Abstract: A control generator starting from supplied data relative to the functioning of the transmission and of the motor, supplies a transfer voltage proportional to the line pressure. The control comprises a primary electrical loop containing a pressure tap and a secondary hydraulic loop comprising an electro-hydraulic transducer. The line pressure is thus controlled. The stability and control performance of the transmission are improved by means of electrical correction circuits. The apparatus may be adapted to any desired type of automatic transmission.

Abstract: A sequential control circuit capable of sequencing through a number of stable states in a predetermined order, starting from a predetermined stable state and sequencing in either of two opposite directions. A contact maker having two transient positions is connected to a timing circuit and to a logic circuit. In response to assumption by the contact maker of one of its transient positions, the timing circuit provides a timer signal delayed with respect to the interval of that transient position. The logic circuit sequences through a number of output conditions corresponding with the stable states in a direction determined by the particular transient position. The logic circuit includes circuitry for placing the circuit in a predetermined one of the output conditions upon initial start up.
Abstract: A window, especially for an automobile body, which consists of two sliding glass sections pivoting about a common superior axis in such manner as to constitute a total glass surface, somewhere between a quarter circle and a semi-circle in form, limited above by the straight sides of the body. The sections are operated by means of a locking catch or by means of a toothed gear control mechanism.

Abstract: A protective helmet for use particularly by the rider of a two-wheeled vehicle, having an upper rigid shell joined to a semi-rigid shell of plastic material, the latter having extensions over the regions of a wearer's ears. An interior shock absorbing element is composed of two parts, the upper part extending frontwardly and rearwardly as far as the lower part, which is ring-like in form and extends around the entire lower interior part of the head, to provide protection in the rear.
Abstract: A variable-venturi nozzle for the measurement and regulation of flows in gas conduits, in particular in internal combustion engine intakes, wherein at least one wall element in the zone of the venturi throat thereof is in the form of at least one elastic wall deformable under the action of the pressure of a control fluid.
Abstract: A stuffing-box seal for rotating shafts having a retaining sleeve for a ring seal which constitutes the seat for two caps disposed axially on the rotating shaft which insure centering of the ring seal, the centering caps having bearing surfaces contacting the rotating shaft at the opposing axial ends of the ring seal and being appropriately bonding with the retaining sleeve.
Abstract: A device for accelerating the initial stroke of hydraulic jacks, comprising a cylinder, a piston provided with sealing-rings, said cylinder fluid feed-orifices and orifices for exhausting fluid through a plurality of calibrated ports arranged in rows in the cylinder periphery at both ends thereof, characterized in that at least one piston-ring (S.sub.2, S.sub.4) at one end of piston (P) is mounted in its respective groove (R.sub.1) with a certain amount of axial and lateral clearance, said groove communicating with the bottom of the piston through at least one port (B.sub.1).
Abstract: Binding device for connecting a transverse-mounted power unit to the body, chassis or like structure of a motor vehicle comprising in one of the anchoring systems a retaining member, for instance a cable, having a negligible rigidity, except when tensile efforts are applied thereto, and the opposite end of said retaining member is rigid with the other anchoring system, in order to limit the angular movements of the power unit.
Abstract: The device comprises a drum around which a belt is wound under the action of a return spring. This spring acts through a cable passing around two pulleys of variable diameter which produce a return force which is independent of the extent of the winding of the belt. Moreover, the cable passes around a pulley which permits transmitting to a device responsive to acceleration a value which represents the linear acceleration of the belt which is also independent of the extent of the winding of the belt.

Abstract: Rotary plate-carrier drum for multi-plate clutches or brakes comprising a bearing plate adapted to encompass a set of keys formed on the outer cylindrical periphery of the drum, the keys being separated by longitudinal slots engaged by the radial extensions of the internal plates and external plates, respectively, of a pair of coaxial clutches. This drum construction is intended more particularly for multi-plate clutches of planetary change-speed transmission mechanisms.
Abstract: The invention relates to an automatic low-pressure diecasting machine, notably for mass-production equipments. The casting takes place through a heat-insulated distribution chamber thermally insulated from the lower portion of the mould structure and delivering the molten metal directly to the mould impression or impressions through a series of substantially vertical feed metal inlet passages formed through the mould bottom. The distribution chamber, of relatively simple design, extends substantially over the entire area of the lower mould impression which requires the presence of such feed metal inlet passages. This machine is intended more particularly for light-alloy castings.

Abstract: A device is provided for precision cold forging of hollow, spherical heads of ball-joint pivots of the type used in the steering and suspension joints of automobiles, which includes a pair of hemispherical forming dies closing on a joint plane passing almost through the center of the ball-joint. One of the dies containing the pivot rod of the ball-joint pivot is clamped onto a tool-holder unit against a bearing edge situated almost on a level with the center of the ball-joint and of the joint plane, with an end part thereof receiving a thrust from a flexible element which opposes the forming pressure of the hollow, spherical head and assures that the die is permanently supported on the bearing edge. Precision cold forging of hollow, spherical forms, mass-produced with finite dimensions is thus available.
Abstract: Electromagnetic actuator, especially for actuating a hydraulic servo-control valve, which comprises a magnetic shell constituting a body of revolution and a concentric armature-forming permanent magnet, at least one annular field coil, the field coil and the armature being adapted to move axially in relation to each other. The movable member (field coil or armature) is caused to move by the resultant electromagnetic force resulting from the energization of the field coil to which a control direct current is applied and by the antagonistic force of a repulsion member incorporated in the magnetic shell. The field coil is longer than the armature so that the electromagnetic force is independent of the movement of the movable member and proportional to the control direct current. The movable member is caused to perform simultaneously a cyclic motion superposed to the axial movement in order to eliminate the friction hysteresis of the hydraulic valve.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a novel method and means for recycling to the carburetor the hydrocarbon vapors emitted by a motor vehicle of the type comprising between the fuel tank and the pipe connecting the air filter to the carburetor a container or canister for adsorbing the hydrocarbons. In the method of this invention, the hydrocarbons thus adsorbed by a suitable material contained in the canister are desorbed by using a stream of air under pressure from a pump, for example the anti-pollution pump provided for injecting fresh atmospheric air into the exhaust system of the vehicle.
