Abstract: This invention relates to a method of receiving a first potentially unreliable clock signal having a first frequency; receiving a second reliable clock signal having a second frequency; wherein the first frequency and the second frequency have an expected relationship; determining whether the first potentially unreliable clock signal has changed with respect to the second reliable clock signal by: determining an actual relationship between the first potentially unreliable frequency and the second reliable frequency; and generating an alarm signal if the actual relationship is different to the expected relationship.
Abstract: An antiinfective-free formulation for prophylactic treatment of mastitis in dry cows comprises a seal formulation having approximately 65% by weight of bismuth sub-nitrate in a gel based on aluminum stearate. The seal formulation is prepared by adding the bismuth sub-nitrate to the gel base in at least two separate stages.

Abstract: An compact manpack format antenna operating over a broad bandwidth. In one arrangement, the antenna is formed from a set of five hollow cylindrical conductive elements. Several cylinders provide, for example, a VHF/UHF radiator section and other cylinders form an L-band radiator section. A bottom leg of the L-band section operates as part of the VHF/UHF section via coupling between that lower L-band leg and the VHF/UHF section. This coupling arrangement reduces the required overall physical length of the antenna.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to polysaccharide synthases. More particularly, the present invention relates to (1,3;1,4)-?-D-glucan synthases. The present invention provides, among other things, methods for influencing the level of (1,3;1,4)-?-D-glucan produced by a cell and nucleic acid and amino acid sequences which encode (1,3;1,4)-?-D-glucan synthases.

Abstract: A dimensionally stable floor covering comprises a tufted textile substrate and a reinforcement layer attached to the textile substrate. The reinforcement layer includes an adhesive backing compound and reinforcement fibers surrounded by the adhesive backing. The fibers may form a continuous layer on the back side of the floor covering or may be dispersed within the adhesive backing compound. The adhesive backing compound may be hot water-soluble to facilitate recycling of the floor covering. The floor covering may optionally include additional backing layers (including cushions) and may be used as a broadloom carpet, a carpet tile, or other modular floor covering products. Methods of manufacturing, installing, and recycling the present floor coverings are also provided.
Abstract: An in vitro method is described that uses full-thickness human skin for evaluating the influence of ABC transporters (such as MDR1, MRP1, MRP2 or BCRP) on the absorption and distribution of topically applied medicinal substances.
Abstract: A method includes receiving from multiple transducers respective signals including reflections of a transmitted signal from a target. An image of the target is produced irrespective of sparsity of the received signals, by computing transducer-specific frequency-domain coefficients for each of the received signals, deriving, from the transducer-specific frequency-domain coefficients, beamforming frequency-domain coefficients of a beamformed signal in which the reflections received from a selected direction relative to the transducers are emphasized, and reconstructing the image of the target at the selected direction based on the beamforming frequency-domain coefficients.

Abstract: A semiconductor integrated circuit includes a hardware mechanism arranged to ensure that associations between instructions and data are enforced so that a processor cannot fetch data from an instruction that is not authorized to do so. A Memory Protection Unit stores entries comprising instructions and associated data memory ranges. A hardware arrangement impairs the operation of the circuit if the processor attempts to make a data fetch from an instruction that is outside the range associated with data in a Memory Protection Unit. Such functioning may be by issuing a chip reset. The Memory Protection Unit may be implemented in a Memory Management Unit having an extension so as to store a validity flag. The validity flag may only be set by a secure process such as the CPU well entrusted code or by a separate trusted hardware source.
Abstract: A method is disclosed for regenerating connective tissue by administering a scaffold comprising collagen fibers extracted from a soft coral. The length of the soft coral collagen fibers following stretching by about 15% is identical to the length of the fibers prior to stretching.

Abstract: Dominant negative (DN) variants of transcriptional enhancer factor 1-related (RTEF-1) are described. DN RTEF-1 polypeptides may be directly targeted to cells or delivered in nucleic acid expression vectors to alter cellular transcription. Methods for inhibiting VEGF production and thereby treating angiogenic disorders such as cancer are described. For example, in certain aspects, DN RTEF-1 may be used to treat angiogenic disorders of the eye such as age related macular degeneration (AMD).

Abstract: An image sensor has a pixel array and an input circuit. The input circuit includes a first input, a second input and two coupling capacitors. The first input receives an analog signal from a pixel of the pixel array which has a first level during a first calibration period and a second level during a second read period. The second input receives a reference ramp signal. A comparator circuit compares the ramp signal and the analog signal. The analog signal and the ramp signal are constantly read onto the coupling capacitors during both the first calibration period and the second read period. The ramp circuit begins providing the ramp signal during the second read period so as to determine the change in magnitude of the analog signal between the first calibration period and the second read period, the ramp circuit also begins providing the ramp signal during the first calibration period so as to compensate for any delay in the ramp circuit providing the ramp signal during the second read period.
