  • Patent number: 5222852
Abstract: A fastening system is provided which includes an elongate grommet affixable into a correspondingly shaped aperture in a first object to be retained therein, and a clip passed through an aperture in a second object to be fastened to the first object. The two objects, one with the grommet affixed therein and the other with the clip projecting therethrough are brought together and, in a first orientation of the clip with respect to the grommet the clip is forcibly pressed into the grommet, whereupon a pair of claws formed onto the shank of the clip engage in an interference fit with recesses formed for such engagement into opposite walls of the grommet. The clip has a maximum transverse dimension smaller than an inside dimension of the elongate grommet, so that a predetermined amount of relative motion between the fastened objects is permitted by sliding motion of the clip while in interference engagement with the grommet.

  • Patent number: 5215076
Abstract: A gas powered heating tool comprises a handle and a head which comprises a soldering tool element. Gas from a reservoir in the handle is delivered through a gas supply pipe to a combustion chamber where it is converted to heat by a catalytic heating element for heating the tool element. A nozzle orifice in a nozzle delivers a jet of gas through the gas supply pipe. The gas supply pipe conducts heat from the combustion chamber to a heat transfer member which in turn conducts heat to the nozzle to prevent freezing of gas in the nozzle orifice. Heat is also conducted to gas supply control means in the handle to prevent gas freezing.

  • Patent number: 5213153
Abstract: A radiating device 10 has a rectangular parallelepiped block 11. Block 11 includes a first group of holes 12 to 19 and a second group of holes 20 to 23 causing convection of air. Passages for circulating gas and liquid serving as a heat pipe, are formed to extend in X, Y and Z directions in block 11. Opening ends of respective passages are closed by pins 51. The air heated in the holes is discharged to the atmosphere from the top surface of the block through the second group of holes. Accordingly, cool air in the atmosphere absorbed in the holes of the first group, carries the heat generated from the inner wall surface of the holes, is discharged to the atmosphere from the top surface of the block. Working fluid sealed in the passage frequently repeats an evaporation and condensation. The liquid condensed at the radiating portion returns to the heated portion along an inner wall surface defining the passage.

  • Patent number: 5208535
Abstract: An MR position detecting device according to the present invention comprises a magnet having magnetic poles alternately magnetized at predetermined intervals, a magnetoresistive element having magneto-detectors for a plurality of phases successively disposed a predetermined distance apart, with a pair of the magneto-detectors provided for each phase. The pair of magneto-detectors for each phase change their resistance values in response to the magnetic field of the magnet, are disposed half the formed magnetic pole width, in substance, apart, and are applied with voltage at both ends of a series connection thereof so as to output a signal from the middle point of the connection. A signal processing circuit defects a change in relative position between the magnetoresistive element and magnet on the basis of a signal obtained from the outputs of the pairs of magneto-detectors for the respective phases of the magnetoresistive element therefore, the device may detect position with high resolution and accuracy.

  • Patent number: 5204095
Abstract: The new hybridoma cell lines RF-HBs-1, RF-HBs-2 and RF-HBs-4 each secrete a nonoclonal antibody to hepatitis B surface antigen. The production of the antibodies may be carried out in vitro by culturing one of the cell lines or in vivo by establishing one of the cell lines as an ascites tumour in a mouse and isolating antibodies from the ascites fluid or from the serum. The antibodies have therapeutic, preventative and diagnostic uses in respect of hepatitis B virus infections and can be used to purify hepatitis B surface antigen. The relative specificities of the three monoclonal antibodies make them particularly useful in radiometric assay techniques employing specific combinations of the antibodies in solid phase.
