Abstract: Heating devices, systems, and methods of making and using a heating device. Such a heating device includes a tubular body having a passage therethrough, at least an inner layer surrounding the passage, and an outer layer surrounding the inner layer. The inner layer is electrically resistive and the outer layer is electrically insulating, and the passage is sized and configured to receive therethrough a tubing. The heating device further includes electrical contacts located at oppositely-disposed ends of the tubular body. The contacts are configured to functionally couple with a power source to provide an electrical current to the inner layer, such that applying an electrical current to the inner layer increases the temperature of the inner layer.

Abstract: Methods for producing oxide/metal composite components for use in high temperature systems, and components produced thereby. The methods use a fluid reactant and a porous preform that contains a solid oxide reactant. The fluid reactant contains yttrium as a displacing metal and the solid oxide reactant of the preform contains niobium oxide, of which niobium cations are displaceable species. The preform is infiltrated with the fluid reactant to react its yttrium with the niobium oxide of the solid oxide reactant and produce an yttria/niobium composite component, during which yttrium at least partially replaces the niobium cations of the solid oxide reactant to produce yttria and niobium metal, which together define a reaction product. The pore volume of the preform is at least partially filled by the reaction product, whose volume is greater than the volume lost by the solid oxide reactant as a result of reacting yttrium and niobium oxide.

Abstract: A transparent proxy for malware detection includes a monitor module, a protocol determination module, a challenge generation module, a response determination module, and a data control module. The monitor module examines data originating from an application towards a remote server. The protocol determination module identifies the protocol type used for the data. The challenge generation module produces a challenge for the application based upon the protocol type, sends the challenge to the application, and maintains a state related to the data and the challenge. The response determination module makes a determination if an automatic non-interactive application response is received in response to the challenge from the application. The data control module allows the first data to continue to the remote server when the determination is valid. The data control module reports malware detection and blocks the data to continue to the remote server when the determination is invalid.
