Abstract: A measuring apparatus for measuring surface topography of the slides to be measured of a guide rail is provided. The measuring apparatus includes a plurality of detecting probe and at least one moving device. The detecting probes are mounted on a probe support according to the surface topography of the slides to be measured. The moving device shifts the probe support or the slides to be measured on the cross section of the guide rail so that the detecting probe has a displacement relative to the slides to be measured. Each of the detecting probes has a corresponding coordinate system, and the corresponding coordinate system is different from each other. A standard part is utilized to correct deviations among the corresponding coordinate systems to the same coordinate system, and then the same coordinate system as a benchmark to measure the surface topography of the slides to be measured.

Abstract: A number of devices and methods for biopassivating explosive ordnance are disclosed. In some embodiments, a biopassivation reactor device is used to render energetic material in an explosive ordnance less explosive and/or non-explosive. This can be done by coupling the biopassivation reactor device to the fuse opening of the explosive ordnance. This can also be done by incorporating the biopassivation reactor device into the explosive ordnance at the time of manufacture. The biopassivation reactor device can include a housing enclosing microorganisms, water, additives, and/or the like. In some embodiments, an entire ordnance magazine can be operated as a bioreactor to passivate the explosive ordnance inside.

Abstract: A blood pressure cuff assembly for an ambulatory blood pressure monitor may include a hollow cuff and an elastic liner provided on the reverse side of the cuff. An airbag may be provided in the cuff. A first connection part and a second connection part may be provided on the cuff. A third connection part and a fourth connection part may be correspondingly provided on the liner. The effect of tight inside and loose outside is achieved by the combination of the elastic liner and the cuff. When worn on an upper arm, the elastic liner has an elastic deformation and consequently tightens around the upper arm so as to realize certain slip resistance, and the cuff will not slip down even tied a bit loosely when located on the upper arm. The feeling of constraint from the cuff is reduced significantly and the comfort is improved.

Abstract: In cancer-cell screening, a patient's cells are classified by a convolutional neural network (CNN) to identify abnormal cells. In one approach, a mask having a center more transparent than the mask's periphery is used to mask an input image containing a cell of interest to yield a masked image. Since the cell is usually located around an image center, and since the image often contains irrelevant objects, such as normal cells and micro-organisms, around an image periphery, interference due to the irrelevant objects in training the CNN and in classification is diminished by using the masked image rather than the original one. In another approach, masking is applied to feature maps before classification. In the CNN, this masking is accomplished by convolving each feature map with a convolutional kernel to produce an intermediate feature map followed by chopping off a peripheral region thereof to yield a downsized feature map.
