    Abstract: Method for mapping the transverse relaxation times (T2) in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan defined over a plurality of pixels, where each pixel is associated with a multicomponent T2 (mcT2) signal, comprises: accessing a computer readable medium storing an mcT2 dictionary having a set of synthetic mcT2 signals, and selecting a subset of synthetic mcT2 signals for which correlations between the synthetic mcT2 signals and pixels in the MRI scan are highest among the set. For each of at least a portion of the pixels, a respective mcT2 scan signal is fitted to the subset to provide, a plurality of T2 values for the pixel. A T2 map of the MRI scan is generated based on the T2 values.

    Abstract: A polybutylene succinate (PBS) nanocomposite material includes a matrix comprising polybutylene succinate chains, and nanocelluloses dispersed between the polybutylene succinate chains. The PBS composite material may be produced by polymerizing 1,4-butanediol and succinic acid or a derivative thereof in a mixture of 1,4-butanediol and succinic acid or a derivative thereof with nanocelluloses. The PBS nanocomposite material and the method have improved properties, which does not require a surface hydrophobization pretreatment process of cellulose, melt kneading, and solution mixing processes.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for laser stimulated lock-in thermography (LLT) crack detection are provided. The system includes a spatial light modulator and a controller. The spatial light modulator reflects a laser beam to focus the laser beam onto a sample for detection of a crack, hole or scratch. The controller is coupled to the spatial light modulator and controls operation of the spatial light modulator to switch focus of the laser beam onto the sample between a plurality of LLT focus configurations for detection of the crack, hole or scratch on the sample. The method includes using a first one of the plurality of LLT configurations for coarse scanning of the sample to detect a crack, hole or scratch on the sample and, when a crack, hole or scratch is detected on the sample, switching to a second one of the plurality of LLT configurations for fine scanning of the crack, hole or scratch on the sample to determine one or more parameters of the crack, hole or scratch on the sample.
