Abstract: Methods are presented for determining the location of underground features (e.g., CO2). One method includes capturing, by sensors distributed throughout a region, seismic traces associated with seismic signals generated by a seismic source. For multiple sensors, active noise is identified or passive noise is measured within each seismic trace and values for attributes associated with the active or passive noise are determined. Further, an unsupervised machine-learning model, based on the values of the attributes, is utilized to determine noise characteristics for multiple sensors. The sensors are grouped in clusters based on the noise characteristics for each sensor. For multiple clusters, a noise filter is created based on the noise characteristics of the sensors in the cluster, and the noise filter of the cluster is applied, for multiple sensors, to the seismic traces of the sensor. Additionally, the filtered seismic traces are analyzed to determine a location of CO2 underground.

Abstract: Etching a refractory metal or other high surface binding energy material on a substrate can maintain or increase the smoothness of the metal/high EO surface, in some cases produce extreme smoothing. A substrate having an exposed refractory metal/high EO surface is provided. The refractory metal/high EO surface is exposed to a modification gas to modify the surface and form a modified refractory metal/high EO surface. The modified refractory metal/high EO surface is exposed to an energetic particle to preferentially remove the modified refractory metal/high EO surface relative to an underlying unmodified refractory metal/high EO surface such that the exposed refractory metal/high EO surface after removing the modified refractory metal/high EO surface is as smooth or smoother than the substrate surface before exposing the substrate surface to the modification gas.
Abstract: This system is a network of sensor nodes with multiple sensors at each node. The nodes are used in combination with a wearable garment to enable multiple types of data to be combined together to produce a fuller picture of a body's physiological state; such as during physical therapy. In addition, the system utilizes acoustic imaging to measure muscle activation. The system transmit this data to a host computer to visualize various data comparisons.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for conditioning and adapting an individual to real-world environments through computer simulations. The subject is fully or partially immersed in a computer-simulated environment for a time-limited session. Real-time monitoring of the human subject is performed for a change in a sensor-derived, quantified sensory load level. Responsive to an increase in sensory load level, the computer-simulated environment modulates the sensory complexity of one or more features of the simulation wherein the human subject adapts to increasingly complex environments.
