Abstract: The invention discloses a class of new polymers, trans-ring-fused poly(4-hydroxybutyrate)s (RF-P4HB) that exhibit a unique set of properties, including robust thermal stability and mechanical strength, quantitative recyclability to the building block monomers via thermolysis and/or chemical catalysis, and convenient production from the chemical ring-opening polymerization under ambient temperature and pressure. Another unique property is the formation of crystalline stereocomplexed polymers with high melting temperature upon mixing the two enantiomeric RF-P4HB chains via stereocomplexing co-crystallization. This invention also provides the corresponding ring-fused lactone monomer structures that enable the synthesis of the RF-P4HB polymers, through trans-fusing of rings to the parent ?-butyrolactone ring. Furthermore, a polymerization or copolymerization process for the synthesis of RF-P4HB polymers and copolymers is disclosed.

Abstract: Preparation, characterization, and an electrochemical study of Mg0.1V2O5 prepared by a novel sol-gel method with no high-temperature post-processing are disclosed. Cyclic voltammetry showed the material to be quasi-reversible, with improved kinetics in an acetonitrile-, relative to a carbonate-, based electrolyte. Galvanostatic test data under a C/10 discharge showed a delivered capacity >250 mAh/g over several cycles. Based on these results, a magnesium anode battery, as disclosed, would yield an average operating voltage ˜3.2 Volts with an energy density ˜800 mWh/g for the cathode material, making the newly synthesized material a viable cathode material for secondary magnesium batteries.

Abstract: A gas flow metrology system for a substrate processing system includes N primary valves selectively flowing gas from N gas sources, respectively, where N is an integer. N mass flow controllers are connected to the N primary valves, respectively, to flow N gases from the N gas sources, respectively. N secondary valves selectively flow gas from the N mass flow controllers, respectively. A gas flow path connects the N secondary valves to a flow metrology system located remote from the N secondary valves, wherein the gas flow path includes a plurality of gas lines. A controller is configured to perform a hybrid flow metrology by selectively using a first flow metrology and a second flow metrology that is different from the first flow metrology to determine an actual flow rate for a selected gas at a desired flow rate from one of the N mass flow controllers.

Abstract: Electroplating results can be improved by dynamically controlling the pressure in different parts of an electroplating apparatus. For example, a number of plating problems can be avoided by ensuring that the pressure in an anode chamber always remains slightly above the pressure in an ionically resistive element manifold, both during electroplating and during non-electroplating operations. This pressure differential prevents the membrane from stretching downward into the anode chamber.
