Abstract: A device for measuring pH levels and contaminant concentration includes an electrode assembly that is electrically coupled to a control unit. The electrode assembly includes a first contact electrically coupled to a reference electrode, a second contact electrically coupled to a working electrode, and a third contact electrically coupled to a counter electrode. The working electrode may be modified to include a cysteine functionalized graphene oxide with polypyrrole nanocomposite. In operation, the control unit may apply a complex signal to the working electrode via the second contact in order to adhere and subsequently strip contaminant ions from the fluid sample to the working electrode. During this process, a current may be measured across the working electrode and the counter electrode to measure contaminant ion concentration. The pH of the fluid sample may also be determined by a current measured across the reference electrode and the counter electrode.

Abstract: A hand carryable, non-lethal personal protection device using compressed gas for operation. In some embodiments the device uses the compressed gas to create and shoot a vortex of air at the target. In other embodiments, the compressed gas can be used to shoot a burst of atomized water at the attacker. In still other embodiments the device uses the compressed gas to shoot ammunition, such as a ring airfoil, O-ring, bean bag, or other non-lethal blunt trauma munitions at the target. In still further embodiments, the device is modular in its construction, and can be used to apply the compressed gas to various different attachments.
Abstract: The invention provides a drug delivery system for a combination of therapeutic agents. The system includes a water soluble biodegradable ABA-type triblock copolymer that possesses thermosensitive gelation properties. The system can form a stable thermogel that includes a combination of therapeutic agents including, for example, rapamycin, paclitaxel, and 17-AAG. After administration to a subject, the drugs are released at a controlled rate from the thermogel, which biodegrades into non-toxic components. The polymer system can also function to increase the solubility and stability of drugs in the composition.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition for inhibiting the formation of a SNARE complex, containing myricetin derivatives, and having novel structures and obtained by the acylation of myricetin, laricitrin, combretol, or syringetin. The myricetin derivatives are considered to exhibit an effect of being bioconverted into myricetin in a cell. The myricetin derivatives lost the dark color of conventional myricetin and properties thereof were changed such that the myricetin derivatives have properties of photostability and fat solubility. Therefore, since stable form myricetin derivatives are absorbed into a cell such that an activity, possessed by normal myricetin, of inhibiting the formation of a SNARE complex are exhibited, the present invention can exhibit an excellent function as a SNARE targeting prodrug, and as a composition for inhibiting the formation of a SNARE complex, containing the same.
