Abstract: A platform is formed in a well below a target plug zone by lowering a thermite reaction charge into the well and igniting it, whereby the products of the reaction are allowed to cool and expand to form a platform or support in the well. A main thermite reaction charge is placed above the platform and ignited to form a main sealing plug for the well. In some embodiments an upper plug is formed by igniting an upper thermite reaction charge above the main thermite reaction charge. The upper plug confines the products of ignition of the main thermite reaction charge.

Abstract: A structurally reinforced optically transparent panel that may be utilized as a bulletproof window or shield. The panel includes a plurality of angled reinforcement members having a reflective top and bottom surfaces. Optical lenses are disposed between the reinforcement members directing a light ray in a predetermined direction. The geometry and spacing of the reinforcement members is such that the light rays enter and exit the bulletproof panel at substantially the same angle allowing an observer to view optical images of objects behind the bulletproof panel, thus creating optical transparency. The reinforcement members are of a high strength material capable of being impenetrable by a projectile fired from a ballistic weapon or an explosion debris.

Abstract: The present invention is to provide highly solid state emissive fluorophores of the formula 1 and 2 useful for the solid state lighting. The formula 1 and 2 have good solid state emission in blue and green region respectively. The zinc complexes of formula 1A and 2A have yellow and red emission respectively in solid state. The present invention also provide high solid state emissive assay of formula 1 and 2 to convert UV light into visible light by coating the color tunable materials on the 365-nm emitting solid state LED. The present invention further provides carbazole end-capped bipyridine for screening of metal salts with different counterions in solutions. The discrimination of the various metal salts can be monitored by noting the fluorescence change in solution. The zinc salts with different counterions have different emission color in solution. The present invention also develop a new two photon active fluorescent Zn2+ specific probe for detecting Zn2+ in cellular environments.

Abstract: Provided are a polishing composition for chemical mechanical polishing, a method of preparing the polishing composition, and a chemical mechanical polishing method using the polishing composition. The polishing composition which is a water-based polishing composition for planarizing a metal compound thin film including two or more metal elements includes nano-diamond particles as a polishing material and poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) as a dispersion stabilizer for the nano-diamond particles in the polishing composition. Since the nano-diamond particles in the polishing composition have hydrophobic surfaces and poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) effectively stabilizes the nano-diamond particles to prevent the nano-diamond particles from aggregating, excellent polishing characteristics for the metal compound thin film may be obtained due to the nano-diamond particles which have a nano size, high hardness, and excellent dispersibility.

Abstract: A method of dynamic adjusting a generation frequency of messages in vehicular networks is provided, including: receiving updating requests and emergent degree of the vehicle event, and then determining whether the generation frequency of messages meets the dynamic change of the vehicle, if not satisfied, selecting a different adjustment method according to the event emergent degree. When the event is emergent, its generation frequency can be raised immediately by an interruptive adjustment and to suppress the generation frequency of messages of the others. Conversely, adjusting its generation frequency by a progressive adjustment and reducing the generation frequency of messages of the other lower-priority vehicles. According to the present disclosure, it prevents lower priority messages from occupying the channel overly, and emergency messages with higher priority can be satisfied immediately when it needed.
