Abstract: A method of forming a hydrophilic polymer is disclosed. The method can include: reacting a monomer comprising an acid group with a Bronsted base to form an ionic liquid; polymerizing the ionic liquid with at least one other monomer; and converting the ionic liquid back to the acid group after polymerization. Also disclosed are hydrophilic polymers and membrane electrode assemblies formed using the above method.
Abstract: The invention relates to transgenic plants exhibiting increased cell wall content. In one embodiment, transgenic plants engineered to over-express fructokinase (FRK) or both FRK and sucrose synthase (SuSy) are provided. The FRK+SuSy double-transgenic plants of the invention consistently exhibit enhanced cell wall polymer deposition.

Abstract: The present invention demonstrates for the first time that FAT1 plays an important role in modulating PDCD4 expression, which in turn regulates AP-1 dependent transcription, controls processes crucial for migration and invasion in cancer cells, controls induction of a pro-inflammatory micro environment in cancer cells. The study illustrates a link between inflammation and cancer in cells or in a subject. This work highlights the importance of FAT1 in the induction of the cellular pathways of migration and invasion, proteolysis of the ECM and the expression of pro-inflammatory molecules leading to a favorable micro environment for tumor and cancer progression.

Abstract: A method generates space vector modulation signals for a multi-level power inverter using space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM).
