Abstract: The present invention is directed to a metering valve for controlling the amount of a fluid passed through the valve and a servo-valve for controlling the metering valve, wherein the servo-valve is decoupled from the metering valve to thermally distance or thermally isolate the servo-valve from any heat from the fluid passing through the metering valve. The metering valve and servo-valve may be used to attemperate a steam stream in a power plant attemperation system, such as a system for attemperating a superheated steam gas stream from a power plant being used for a heat-recovery steam generator. An integrated metering valve and discharge valve for discharging fluid during periods of non-use is also provide. Changeable throttle plates are also provided that control the flow of the fluid through the control chamber of the metering valve and the discharge valve.

Abstract: One embodiment provides a method and a system for reconstructing symbols transmitted over a high frequency (HF) communication channel. During operation, the system can receive, at a receiver, a radio frequency (RF) signal carrying an input data frame and transmitted over the HF communication channel. The input data frame includes a number of known symbols followed by a number of unknown symbols. The system can determine a set of channel parameters associated with the HF communication channel based on the received RF signal and the known symbols and reconstruct, using a machine-learning technique, the unknown symbols based on the determined channel parameters and the received RF signal.

Abstract: Chlamydiae are intracellular bacterial pathogens responsible for a variety of infections. The inventors have set up candidate vaccines against Chlamydia trachomatis. In particular, the inventors have identified specific epitopes to be included in vaccine candidates thanks to in silico analysis of the amino-acid sequence of these proteins to map predicted MHC-I and -II epitopes by online software (NetMHC-4.0 and NetMHCII-2.3) and peptide binding prediction software. B cell epitopes were also mapped using online software (BepiPred-2.0 and Discotope). Finally, the inventors have generated some specific CD40 or Langerin antibodies comprising one or more identified epitope(s) of the present invention and that are suitable for vaccine purposes. Abstract: Embodiments in accordance with the present invention encompass a variety of polymers derived from polycyclic olefin monomers, such as hydrocarbon functionalized norbornenes. The polymers so formed function as ionomers and are suitable as anion exchange membrane for fabricating a variety of electrochemical devices, among others. More specifically, the ionomeric polymers used herein are derived from a variety of quaternized amino functionalized norbornene monomers and are lightly crosslinked (less than ten mol %). The membranes made therefrom exhibit very high ionic conductivity of up to 198 mS/cm at 80° C. This invention also relates to using an anion conducting solid polymer electrolyte as the ion conducting medium between the two electrodes and the ion conducting medium within the electrodes acting as the ionic conduit between electroactive material and electrolyte. The electrochemical devices made in accordance of this invention are useful as fuel cells, gas separators, and the like.
