Abstract: A metal-ion deposition regulator to regulate the flux and deposition of metal ions in an electrochemical cell. The regulator containing two membranes made of a polymer and a plurality of two-dimensional porous nanosheets sandwiched between the two membranes. The regulator is capable of distributing flux of metal ions passing through the metal-ion deposition regulator and regulating the deposition of the metal ions onto the cathode or anode thereby suppressing dendrite growth in the electrochemical cell. Abstract: A method and system for detecting a malicious change in the positioning signal of a User Equipment (UE), by using the time difference of arrival (TDOA) method in a communication system that uses, for example, a low earth orbiting satellites (LEOs) based non-terrestrial network (NTN). A position comparator module is incorporated in a position computation entity that compares the geolocation of a UE, computed by using the transmitted time Ttrans in the positioning signal, with the geolocation computed by the TDOA method, and if the difference is above a threshold value, an alert is generated. Using this system a and method prevents a UE from faking its own geolocation to other UEs and communication devices in the communication system by more than few hundred of meters. As a result, the Location Based Services (LBS) can be offered reliably to legitimate users only.
Abstract: A battery management system (BMS) to detect conditions favorable to thermal runway. The BMS includes Interdigitated Platinum Electrode (IPE) on a substrate. The IPE contains a coating containing PEDOT:PSS (poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate). The system has an impedance measuring system (IMS) to measure impedance changes caused in the IPE due to exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOC's) resulting from decomposition of electrolyte in a battery. The impedance changes are indicative of release of the VOC's from the battery signaling a temperature increase in components of the battery. A method of inferring the concentration of VOC's produced by an electrochemical cell. The method includes providing a sensor integrated into the electrochemical cell, the sensor being IPE on a substrate containing a coating containing PEDOT:PSS, recording the impedance response of the sensor to the VOC's released by the electrochemical cell and inferring the concentration of the VOC's.

Abstract: A time-of-flight system includes an emitter-circuit generating and directing pulses of light toward a target, and a receiver-circuit including a photodetector coupled between a bias node and a sensing node to detect pulses that have reflected off the target, a comparison circuit comparing a sense voltage at the sensing node to a reference, a timing measurement circuit measuring elapsed time between generation of a given pulse and detection thereof after reflection off the target, and a programmable current sink that sinks a current from the sensing node equal to a portion of a photocurrent generated by the photodetector due to detection of ambient light. A timing-generation circuit synchronizes generation of the pulses and measurement of elapsed time by the timing circuit. A processor adjusts a magnitude of the current sunk from the sensing node based upon output of the comparison circuit when the emitter circuit is deactivated.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an automatic interpretation method and system for converting only voice of a speaker into a target language. The present invention may significantly improve performance of automatic interpretation with a foreigner to be communicated with, even in a high-noise environment in which multiple speakers utter at the same time by utilizing voice and image information input to a smart device in a complex manner. In addition, the present invention may determine a situation based on text information and image information existing around a user, and reflect the situation information together with multimodal information to an interpretation engine in real time. In addition, the present invention may significantly improve user convenience of an automatic interpretation system by directly augmenting and displaying an interpreted sentence directly next to a speaker image or generating a synthesized sound by distinguishing the interpreted sentence from other speeches.

Abstract: A method for producing an HSL protein with increased catalytic activity to oxidize a 4-HPPD inhibitor in a 2-oxoglutarate-dependent manner is disclosed. A method for producing a plant with increased resistance to a 4-HPPD inhibitor using the method for producing the HSL protein is also disclosed. It has been revealed that, by mutating position 140 to a basic amino acid in an HSL protein, the catalytic activity of the protein to oxidize a 4-HPPD inhibitor in a 2-oxoglutarate-dependent manner can be increased, and an activity of the protein to decompose the inhibitor can be increased.
