  • Patent number: 11822529
Abstract: A system may forecast a plurality of workload measurements for a database management system (DBMS) at respective times based on a workload model. The system may determine, based on the forecasted workload measurements, configuration parameter sets optimized for the DBMS at the respective times. The system may generate a reconfiguration plan. The system may determine performance that would result from reconfiguring nodes of the DBMS with the configurations parameter sets. The system may select a reconfiguration plan in response to the performance satisfying a fitness criterion. The system may cause, at the reconfiguration times, the nodes to begin reconfiguration with the configuration parameter sets included in the selected reconfiguration plan.

  • Patent number: 11822294
Abstract: A timepiece movement includes a magnetic escapement formed of a magnetic escape wheel with an annular magnetized structure and a pallet fork whose shaft is formed by a ferromagnetic material. The pallet shaft exerts on the escape wheel a magnetic disturbance torque due to the fact that the annular magnetized structure exhibits an angular variation of at least one defining physical parameter thereof, such that the magnetic attraction varies as a function of the angular position of the escape wheel and has a tangential component. A magnetic compensation pin is incorporated in the timepiece movement, this magnetic compensation pin being arranged such that the second magnetic disturbance torque that it exerts on the escape wheel exhibits an angular phase shift relative to the first magnetic disturbance torque generated by the pallet shaft, so as to compensate largely for this first magnetic disturbance torque.

  • Patent number: 11821872
Abstract: Interaction of acoustic waves in a piezoelectric-semiconductor resonant cavity with the charge carriers in the semiconductor layer can be directed toward amplification of the acoustic waves; such amplification scheme can be applied in building unilateral amplifiers, zero loss filters, oscillators, high detection range circuit-less wireless sensors, isolators, duplexers, circulators and other acoustic devices. An apparatus for acoustoelectric amplification is described. The apparatus includes a semiconductor layer and a thin piezoelectric layer bonded (or deposited) onto the semiconductor layer forming an acoustic cavity. Two or more tethers forming a current conduction path through the semiconductor layer and two or more access pads to silicon are positioned on two ends of the acoustic cavity and configured to inject a DC current in the semiconductor layer.

  • Patent number: 11821713
Abstract: A projectile incorporates one or more spoiler-tabbed spinning disks to effect flow around the projectile and thus impart steering forces and/or moments. The spoiler tabs may be deployed only during steering phases of travel thus minimizing the drag penalty associated with steering systems. The disks are driven by motors and informed and controlled by sensors and electronic control systems. The spoiler tabs protrude through the surface of the projectile only for certain angles of spin of the spinning disk. For spin-stabilized projectiles, the disks spin at substantially the same rate as the projectile, but the disks may function in fin-stabilized projectiles as well. Any number of such spinning flow effector disks may be incorporated in a projectile, with the manner of functional coordination differing slightly for even and odd numbers of disks.

  • Patent number: 11821682
Abstract: The systems and methods described herein integrate a supercritical fluid power generation system with a LNG production/NGL separation system. A heat exchanger thermally couples the supercritical fluid power generation system with the LNG production/NGL separation system. A relatively cool heat transfer medium, such as carbon dioxide, passes through the heat exchanger and cools a first portion of extracted natural gas. The relatively warm heat transfer medium returns to the supercritical fluid power generation system where a compressor and a thermal input device, such as a combustor, are used to increase the pressure and temperature of the heat transfer medium above its critical point to provide a supercritical heat transfer medium. A second portion of the extracted natural gas may be used as fuel for the thermal input device.
