  • Patent number: 7206333
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for using a different symbol timing for users so as to reduce a multiple access interference component in a multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) system. For this purpose, the presented invention involves dividing the users of the MC-CDMA system into two groups and applying an offset to the symbol timing between the user groups to cause a symbol transition of the opposite user group in the middle of the symbol interval, thereby reducing the multiple access interference component included in a symbol decision variable after a chip combination.

  • Patent number: 7206098
Abstract: In order to avoid print buffer under-run a printing method involves a printer printing a rendered first page of print data while another page is rendered in a connected computer. Simultaneously, a previously rendered page of print data is transmitted from the computer to the printer. Typically the connection between the computer and the printer is a relatively low bandwidth connection such as a USB, parallel port or 10 Base-T Ethernet connection. In order to rapidly transmit the rendered pages of print data across the low bandwidth connection the computer applies data compression to the print data.

  • Patent number: 7206567
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for limiting communication capabilities in mobile communication devices are disclosed. In one illustrative example, a predetermined condition such as an unsatisfactory temperature or a low battery voltage is detected at the mobile communication device. At this time, a communication request for communicating information through a wireless communication network is received through a user interface. If the communication request is for a non-emergency communication, the non-emergency communication is inhibited during the existence of the predetermined condition. If the communication request is for an emergency communication, however, the emergency communication is allowed despite the existence of the predetermined condition. The emergency communication may be allowed at a reduced transmit power and/or using limited coding/modulation methods. The emergency communication may be a “911” voice call or an emergency message.

  • Patent number: 7205911
Abstract: An apparatus and method for checking validity of an 8B/10B code-group are provided. The apparatus for checking validity of an 8B/10B code-group includes a 6B/5B disparity classification unit, a 4B/3B disparity classification unit, an RD6 detection unit, an RD4 detection unit, an 8B/10B code-group rule violation detection unit, an RD error detection unit, and a unit for outputting 8B/10B code-group validity. The apparatus receives an 8B/10B code-group, divides into a least significant 6-bit nibble and a most significant 4-bit nibble, detects a running disparity, and by doing so, determines the validity of a code-group. The apparatus and method for checking validity of an 8B/10B code-group relatively shortens the critical path, which indicates the number of combinational logic circuits that should be operated in a unit time, and therefore the apparatus and method are appropriate to high-speed systems such as gigabit Ethernet systems.

  • Patent number: 7205936
Abstract: Disclosed are a transmitting and receiving apparatus and method in an adaptive array antenna system capable of real-time calibration. Transfer functions in the transmitting and receiving apparatus are estimated by injecting a calibration signal to each of transmit and receive channels and analyzing the signals that has passed through the transmit and receive channels. An RF CW sinusoidal signal of a single frequency can be used as the calibration signal to simplify a process of signal processing in a baseband. In addition, in the calibration of the receiving apparatus, gains of all receive channels are controlled using an identical signal. Thus, a relative transfer function characteristic of the receive channels is constant irrespective of the gains of the receivers.

  • Patent number: 7205387
Abstract: The invention provides a novel recombinant polypeptide that comprises a nucleic acid binding element and a hairpin motif that selectively binds to a neurotrophin receptor. The recombinant polypeptide may be used for neurotrophin receptor mediated delivery of nucleic acid, including therapeutic DNA, bound to the recombinant polypeptide. In one embodiment, the hairpin motif is a hairpin motif of a neurotrophin, such as nerve growth factor, brain derived neurotrophic factor, neurotrophin 3 and neurotrophin 4/5. The hairpin motif is also a neurotrophin agonist and therefore may be used to treat any disorder responsive to neurotrophin treatment, such as neurological disorders and tumour. In one embodiment the agonist comprises a hairpin motif that selectively binds to a neurotrophin receptor and a positively charged binding domain which is believed to enhance receptor binding by binding to negatively charged cell membrane.
