Abstract: An apparatus for cooling an animal in a place such as a milking stall or feeding stall wherein an artificial climate is created. The artificial climate disclosed comprises wetting the animal with a water vapor and causing an air flow over the wetted area of the animal. Water vapor is sprayed and rubbed onto the back of the animal while shields protect areas to remain dry. During the process the animal is monitored for signs of thermal stress using a variety of methods and the wetting and cooling process are discontinued if the artificial climate adversely affects the animal.

Abstract: Compositions and methods for addressing oxygen inhibition in free radical polymerization systems and determination of oxygen content in a monomer or oligomer. The compositions used include a singlet oxygen generator and a singlet oxygen trapper. Addition of the generator and trapper resulting in removal of oxygen can occur before polymerization or essentially simultaneously with polymerization. Determination of oxygen content comprises monitoring the concentration changes from the reaction of the singlet oxygen trapper with the oxygen in the system.

Abstract: An alternating current (AC) solar power apparatus includes a photovoltaic cell and a circuit or device for causing a signal generated by the photovoltaic cell to oscillate in a negative differential resistance range, thereby producing an AC output voltage. The photovoltaic cell exhibits negative differential resistance in its current/voltage (IV) curve in the presence of high flux illumination, wherein when the output voltage is within a negative differential resistance range, an incremental increase in the output voltage produces an associated decrease in generated current. By connecting the terminals of the photovoltaic cell to a resonator (e.g., an inductive-capacitive circuit) or other device that produces oscillation within the negative differential resistance range, the photovoltaic cell is caused to produce AC power.

Abstract: A method constructs three-dimensional (3D) models of a scene from a set of two-dimensional (2D) input images. The 3D model can then be used to reconstruct the scene from arbitrary viewpoints. A user segments and labels a set of corresponding polygonal regions in each image using conventional photo-editing tools. The invention constructs the model so that the model has a maximum volume that is consistent with the set of labeled regions in the input images. Abstract: A medical imaging system with increased scan productivity or throughput. The invention allows hospitals and other medical facilities to ameliorate the high cost of imaging devices such as CT or MRI scanners while improving patient care and lowering per-patient costs. A single imaging device is arranged so that pre- or post-imaging processing of one or more patients and patient tables/tabletops can be performed simultaneously with imaging of another patient. The imaging device can be stationary, while patient tables/tabletops are movably guided by tracks on both sides of the imaging device. The imaging device can also be movable relative to the patient tables/tabletops. An overhead or floor track system can be used such as a circuit, or multiple track branches that merge at a junction. Or, the imaging device can be located at the center, or outside, of a carousel on which the patient tables are loaded and unloaded.

Abstract: An apparatus and method in which the apparatus includes a first electrospinning device configured to electrospin first fibers of a first substance, a second electrospinning device configured to electrospin second fibers of a second substance such that first and second fibers combine in a mat formation region, and a biasing device configured to bias the first electrospinning device with a first electric polarity and to bias the second electrospinning device with a second electric polarity of opposite polarity to the first electric polarity to promote attraction and coalescence between the first and second fibers.
