  • Patent number: 5515773
Abstract: A steam oven includes a chamber for receiving food, a water tank having a discharge valve, and a reservoir in communication with the water tank and the chamber. A barrier divides the reservoir in a receiving compartment and a separate boiling compartment. A passage in the barrier allows the receiving compartment and the boiling compartment to fluidly communicate with each other. In use, water flows from the water tank into the receiving compartment, and then from the receiving compartment into the boiling compartment to be converted into steam. The barrier retards heat transfer from the water in the boiling compartment to the water in the receiving compartment to prevent the water in the receiving compartment from becoming agitated to an extent where air would be allowed to flow through the discharge valve into the water tank, thereby causing an untimely release of water from the water tank into the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 5276307
Abstract: An outdoor grill of the type having a base, a cover, a food-supporting grill and a heating element includes an electrical housing having a support member removably disposed within the outdoor grill, and a housing member secured to the support member. The housing member is shaped to define a cavity wherein at least one electrical connection is located. The top and the sides of the housing member define a nonperforated surface which substantially prevents substances damaging to the at least one electrical connection from entering the cavity. In case damaging substances do enter the cavity, the bottom of the housing member defines a surface having at least one vent for venting the substances from the housing.

  • Patent number: RE36106
Abstract: An ashtray has a base with a lid hinged thereto. A filter is in the lid in order to accommodate an easy filter replacement. An air duct in the lid enables a fan in the base to draw smoke through the filter and out the base. The fan is operated in response to raising the lid to an upright position. The intake to the air duct is far enough from debris in the ashtray to preclude drawing the debris into the air duct. The lid tends to seal in odors when it is closed. An area in the base may also receive a filter in order to provide a compatibility with preexisting filters.
