Abstract: Methods and systems for supplying auxiliary electrical power to a controller during power loss are described hereinabove. The system is powered by a primary power source, and includes a controller and a winding load that are both powered by the primary power source, and a switching device. When the primary power source is disconnected from the controller and winding load, the winding load continues to residually exercise to generate residual electrical power. The second switching device then channels the residual electrical power to the controller for a period of time at an acceptable level.

Abstract: The fuel injection apparatus has a high-pressure pump and has a respective injector for each cylinder of the engine, which injector is at least indirectly connected to the high-pressure pump via a hydraulic line. Each injector is connected to the high-pressure pump via a hydraulic line and/or to the injector of another cylinder of the engine. This makes it possible to eliminate the high-pressure accumulator that is usually provided between the high-pressure pump and the injectors.
Abstract: A control unit in a vehicle is provided in which power is supplied via a converter that provides an electrical isolation. For the data exchange with external components and other components in the control unit that are not electrically isolated, the component isolated by this electrical isolation is additionally connected to a coupling element that likewise provides an electrical isolation.
Abstract: A method for operating a sensor for recording particles in an exhaust gas flow and a device for carrying out the method are provided, in which at least one measure of the exhaust gas flow is ascertained and in which the measure of the exhaust gas flow is taken into consideration in the valuation of the particle sensor signal made available by the particle sensor. The procedure is based on the knowledge that the exhaust gas flow, for instance, the exhaust gas volume flow, has an influence on the particle sensor signal made available by the particle sensor, especially when the measuring effect is based on the depositing of particles on a sensor surface. Using the procedure, a possibly present cross sensitivity of the particle sensor with respect to different exhaust gas flows is taken into consideration, so that the measuring accuracy is increased.

Abstract: Methods and devices of operating an internal combustion engine, especially a gasoline engine with direct gasoline injection, in a controlled self-ignition. The internal combustion engine includes a combustion chamber, at least one intake valve and at least one exhaust valve, whose opening times are changeable. The internal combustion engine also includes an adjustable exhaust gas recirculation and a gas mixture capable of ignition, which contains the residual gas, which is compressed in the combustion chamber during a compression stroke, whereby the gas mixture self-ignites toward the end of the compression stroke. The residual gas moves into, respectively remains in, the combustion chamber by using internal and external exhaust gas recirculation.

Abstract: A self-boosting electromagnetic disk brake having an electromechanical actuating device and a mechanical self-boosting device that has a wedge mechanism. A wedge is displaceable parallel to a brake disk and relative to a friction brake lining, and the relative displaceability of the wedge is limited relative to the friction brake lining to one direction, by means of a slaving device. The wedge is decoupled from the friction brake lining in one direction of rotation of the brake disk. As a result, the self-boosting device is operative in only one direction of rotation of the brake disk; in the reverse direction of rotation of the brake disk, the disk brake is neutral in terms of self-help.
