  • Patent number: 11029660
Abstract: A safety input system for monitoring a sensor can include a voltage sensing circuit configured to produce a first detection output upon sensing a signal exceeding a voltage threshold, and a current sensing circuit configured to produce a second detection output upon sensing the signal exceeding a current threshold and/or voltage threshold. The signal can come from a sensor in an industrial automation system, such as a light curtain. The first detection output can be provided to a first processor, and the second detection output can be provided to a second processor, so that two processors can independently monitor the sensor. The signal can be monitored by separate input systems. Periodically the first processor can inject a first test signal into the input system for the second processor to detect, and the second processor can inject a second test signal into the input system for the first processor to detect.

  • Patent number: 10483663
Abstract: An input/output device includes a terminal base to be mounted to a structure. A terminal block is connected to the terminal base and includes wiring terminals to be connected to I/O field wiring. A latch body is connected to the terminal block. The latch body is manually movable between an unlatched position and a latched position. An input/output module is connected to the terminal base adjacent the terminal block and includes a locking tab. The latch body, when in the latched position, engages the locking tab and captures the input/output module to the terminal block. The terminal block includes first and second module retaining rails or projections that engage respective slots of the input/output module to restrain the module relative to the terminal base. The terminal base includes first and second notches that receive inner ends of the first and second module retaining projections to rigidify the terminal base.

  • Patent number: 10475612
Abstract: An electrical relay system is configured to allow for failure detection of a relay by injecting a signal at a common contact of the relay and looking for the signal at a normally closed contact of the relay. If the relay is commanded to be “off,” or closed, and the injected signal is not detected through the normally closed contact of the relay, then the system can determine that a failure condition has occurred. In one aspect, the system can include multiple relays with the signal being injected at a common node of the relays. In another aspect, the system can include multiple controllers for controlling and/or monitoring the electrical relay system. The electrical relay system can be coupled to screw terminals for connecting to a field device as part of an industrial automation system.

  • Patent number: 10180056
Abstract: A system may include a monitoring device that may receive data associated with one or more properties of a well. The well may produce a flow of hydrocarbons. The monitoring device may receive data associated with the well and determine whether the flow of hydrocarbons includes a percentage of water greater than a threshold based on whether the data is outside a profile associated with the flow of hydrocarbons at the well over time. The monitoring device may then send an alarm notification to another device indicating an increased water cut in the flow of hydrocarbon.

  • Patent number: 10122114
Abstract: This disclosure regards a self-keying system for an input/output (I/O) device. An I/O module mountable on a terminal base exchanges I/O signals with external devices via the terminal base. The I/O module comprises a key, and the terminal base comprises a locking assembly to allow insertion of only compatible I/O modules into the terminal base. The locking assembly comprises parallel slots containing a plurality of lock pins movable in the slots between a biased position and a second position. A blocking member is actuated by the key to block each of the lock pins in their respective position to key the base. A maintaining member maintains the blocking member in the keyed position. After keying, a non-compatible key would be rejected from the locking assembly due to the blocked lock pins. A reset to the unkeyed configuration may be accomplished without the use of tools by actuating the maintaining member.

  • Patent number: 10108167
Abstract: A system may include a monitoring device that receives data associated with one or more properties at a well. The monitoring device may determine a plurality of expected flow rates of hydrocarbons produced from the well with respect to a plurality of gas injection rates associated with the well based on the data and a hydrocarbon model. The hydrocarbon model may estimate the plurality of expected flow rates of hydrocarbons. The monitoring device may then adjust a gas injection rate at the well based on the plurality of expected flow rates of hydrocarbons.
