Abstract: Provided is a semiconductor device in which on-resistance is largely reduced based on a new principle of operation. In the semiconductor device, if an embedded electrode is at negative potential, a depletion layer is formed from a trench to a neighboring trench so that a channel is turned off. If the embedded electrode is at a positive potential, the depletion layer is not formed in every region between the neighboring trenches so that the channel is turned on.

The clothing illumination device also has an LED light source and an IC tag reader. A clothing illumination system has a first and a second clothing illumination device which are each switchable between illumination with visible light only and illumination with visible light mixed with ultraviolet light, and which operate in a fashion coordinated with each other to perform the switching.
Abstract: Monovalent copper plating baths are used to metallize current tracks of the front side or emitter side of semiconductor wafers. Copper is selectively deposited on the current tracks by electrolytic plating or LIP. Additional metallization of the current tracks may be done using conventional metal plating baths. The metalized semiconductors may be used in the manufacture of photovoltaic devices.
Abstract: A semiconductor device has pluralities of grid array terminals forming a grid array structure, e.g. a BGA structure, in which the output end of a built-in switch circuit is connected to multiple terminals of the grid array structure, thereby reducing the current that flows through each of the multiple terminals below a permissible level and minimizing the heat due to contact resistances of the multiple terminals in contact, with the IC socket of the semiconductor device. Each pair of nearest neighbors, of the multiple terminals is interposed by at least one further array terminal. The multiple terminals are all located at the outermost peripheral terminal positions of the grid array structure. Thus, the heat generated in the respective multiple terminals connected to the switch circuit is reduced, thereby minimizing the possibility of hazardous melting of the terminals.
Abstract: A copper plating solution which contains compounds with the structure —X—S—Y— where X and Y are, independently of each other, atoms selected from a group consisting of hydrogen, carbon, sulfur, nitrogen, and oxygen, and X and Y can be the same only if they are carbon atoms and aliphatic semialdehydes. By using this copper electroplating solution it is possible to form good filled vias without worsening the appearance of the plating.
Abstract: A first calculation unit subtracts third digital data which indicates the minimum value of the duty ratio from first digital data which indicates the duty ratio of the PWM driving operation. A slope calculation unit generates slope data which is dependent on the temperature based upon second digital data which indicates the temperature. A second calculation unit multiplies the slope data by the output data of the first calculation unit. A third calculation unit sums the output data of the second calculation unit and the third digital data. A selector receives the output data of the third calculation unit and the third digital data, selects one data that corresponds to the sign of the output data of the first calculation unit, and outputs the data thus selected as a duty ratio control signal.
