Abstract: Systems and methods are presented herein for providing a user with a notification, or access to content, based on the user's factual discourse during a conversation with other users. A first user may provide a first statement. A second user may provide a second statement. An application determines the first and the second statement are associated with first and second user profiles, respectively. The application analyzes the elements of each respective statement and determines there is a conflict between the user statements. In response to determining there is a conflict between the respective statements, the application generates a respective search query to verify each respective statement. When the application determines there is an answer that resolves the conflict between the respective statements, the application generates a notification for the users that comprises the answer that resolves the conflict and may include access to content affirming the answer.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for a media guidance application that manages media subscriptions between a user and a content provider. In particular, the media guidance application may automatically identify subscription terms that are beneficial for both a user and for a content provider.

Abstract: The system provides a synthesized speech response to a voice input, based on the prosodic character of the voice input. The system receives the voice input and calculates at least one prosodic metric of the voice input. The at least one prosodic metric can be associated with a word, phrase, grouping thereof, or the entire voice input. The system also determines a response to the voice input, which may include the sequence of words that form the response. The system generates the synthesized speech response, by determining prosodic characteristics based on the response, and on the prosodic character of the voice input. The system outputs the synthesized speech response, which includes a more natural, relevant, or both answer to the call of the voice input. The prosodic character of the voice input and/or response may include pitch, note, duration, prominence, timbre, rate, and rhythm, for example.

Abstract: When a viewer is determined to be interested in an advertisement, a media guidance application may identify a second related advertisement to display to the viewer. The second advertisement may be displayed following the first interesting advertisement. To avoid timing issues, media content following the advertisements may be buffered so that the viewer can catch up on the media content without missing anything.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for downloading media assets efficiently and quickly before loss of network connectivity. The method may allow a user to download portions of a media asset in different versions to download a maximum portion of the media asset before loss of network connectivity. Certain versions of media assets may be downloaded more quickly than other versions of media assets. The method may also allow a user to view partially downloaded media assets without network connectivity. The method may also replace portions of media assets downloaded in a first version with portions of the media assets in a second version once network connectivity is restored.

Abstract: Systems and methods for facilitating contextual queries based on media samples automatically captured by a computing device are disclosed herein. A server receives from a computing device over a communication network, a media sample of a media asset automatically captured by the computing device. The server obtains contextual information corresponding to the captured media sample. The server stores the media sample in a memory indexed by the contextual information. The server receives, from the computing device over the communication network, a query that includes a criterion but lacks an identifier of the media asset. The server identifies the media sample in the memory by matching the query criterion to the contextual information. The server generates a reply to the query based on the identifying of the media sample and communicates the reply to the computing device over the communication network.

Abstract: Systems and methods for warning a user that media assets associated with another user depict the user with an undesired expression are provided. A plurality of media assets associated with a first user and depicting a second user may be identified. A set of expressions of the second user that the second user has indicated as undesirable may be retrieved. The depictions of the second user in the plurality of media assets and the expressions that the second user has indicated are undesirable may be compared. If it is determined that one or more of the media assets depict the second user with an undesirable expression, a notification may be generated to the second user indicating that one or more media assets of the first user depict the second user with an expression that the second user has indicated as undesirable.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for providing of dynamic content based on user preferences, for example, identifying a consumer's preferences for a media asset and tailoring the media asset to the consumer's preferences to encourage the consumer to continue to consume the media asset. The system generates the media asset for consumption. The system identifies a media asset consumption profile based on the media asset and a viewer profile and identifies a second media asset that may be used to enhance to the first media asset. The system generates an enhanced media asset from the second media asset based on the viewer profile and provides the enhanced program for consumption. An enhanced media asset may include the video content of the first media asset and the audio and text content from the second media asset.

Abstract: Systems and methods for efficient management of an audio/video conference are disclosed. The methods comprise recording voice data of a first user connected to a conference while the user is in a first state, determining the first user is talking while in the first state, and initiating playback of the recorded voice data of the first user to a plurality of other users, wherein a playback rate of the recorded voice data is variable.

Abstract: Systems and methods for encoding/decoding a 3D image are provided. The system decomposes depth map into a plurality of component depth maps (CDMs) for a plurality of depth ranges, wherein each component depth map corresponds to a focal plane of a multiple focal plane (MFP) decomposition of the image data. The system generates a plurality of component depth map focal planes (CDMFPs) by combining each respective CDM with the depth map. The system scales data in each CDMFP by a respective scaling factor. The system generates for transmission a plurality of encoded scaled CDMFP data streams for the plurality of depth ranges, wherein each respective scaled CDMFP data stream is based at least in part on a respective scaled CDMFP.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented herein for modifying messages transmitted between a first computing device and a second computing device based on the determination of a context of messages transmitted between the first and second computing devices. A first message, prepared to be transmitted to a second computing device, is prepared at a first computing device. Based on an identifier corresponding to the second computing device, a plurality of devices communicably coupled to the second computing device are determined. Selectable options are generated at the first computing device which, when selected, determine which of the second computing device or one of the plurality of communicably coupled devices will receive the transmitted message. Based on the selection of an option, the message may be modified to fit the format of the device corresponding to the selected option and transmitted to the device corresponding to the selected option.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein for determining one or more traits of a speaker based on voice analysis to present content item to the speaker. In one example, the method receives a voice query and determines whether the voice query matches within a first confidence threshold of a speaker identification (ID) among a plurality of speaker IDs stored in a speaker profile. In response to determining that the voice query matches to the speaker ID within the first confidence threshold, the method bypasses a trait prediction engine and retrieves a trait among the plurality of traits in the speaker profile associated with the matched speaker ID. The method further provides a content item based on the retrieved trait.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for updating search results based on a user's comment or a conversation among users using a media guidance application. A set of search results may be presented to a user or users. Comments or a conversation about the search results may be analyzed by the media guidance application. Selected comments by a user determined to have a greater weight may be used to update the search results.

Abstract: A method for generating a content depiction of particular content that includes a machine learning system programmed to receive profile data representing preferences for content. The machine learning system identifies preferences for content features based upon the profile data, accesses content data representing the particular content and other content, and classifies features of the content data and content structure data within a content structure database system according to content categories. The machine learning system generates a content structure depiction of the particular content by combining content structure data from the content structure database system, wherein the combining is based upon correlating the identified preferences of the profile with the classified content categories. The machine learning system receives feedback data responsive to the content depiction and reprograms a configuration of the machine learning system for generating a content depiction based upon the feedback data.

The method includes receiving an audio question from a first user of a plurality of users connected to a conference, recording the audio question and preventing an immediate transmission of the audio question to the plurality of users connected to the conference, analyzing an audio portion of the conference to identify a time for transmitting the audio question to the plurality of users connected to the conference, and transmitting the audio question to the plurality of users at the identified time.

An illustrative method receives a search query, determines an answer to the search query, identifies a media content reference included in the search query, determines, based on the media content reference, a personality associated with the media content reference, identifies a voice profile of the personality, and generates audio output using the voice profile of the personality, the audio output including the answer to the search query.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating and presenting content recommendations to new users during or immediately after the onboarding process, before any history of the new user's viewed content is available. A machine learning or other model may be trained to determine clusters of content genre values corresponding to genres of content watched by viewers. Clusters are thus associated with popular groupings of content genres viewed by many users. Clusters representing popular groupings of content genres may be selected for new users, and content corresponding to the selected clusters may be recommended to the new users as part of their onboarding process. A sufficient amount of content may be selected to fully populate any content recommendation portion of a new user onboarding page.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for determining a level of user engagement based on user interactions. A media guidance application is configured to retrieve a first record of a first plurality of user inputs, including input type, received during consumption of a media asset. A second time interval, prior to the first time interval, is selected by shifting the first start time and the first end time. A second record of a second plurality of user inputs received during the second time interval, including input type, is retrieved. A first media asset consumed during the first time interval and a second media asset consumed during the second time interval are determined, and the level of user engagement for the first media asset is determined based on the first record and the second record.
