Abstract: A gas lighter comprises a cylindrical tank having a filler valve and a burner valve connected to a burner by a conduit. An electrical ignition device is enclosed within a semi-cylindrical holder and a semi-cylindrical, axially displaceable actuating member, the actuating member being provided with means for operating the ignition device and means for opening the burner valve. The tank holder and actuating member are surrounded and held together by a one-part tubular sleeve having an aperture to permit manual movement of the actuating member.

Abstract: In a deep fryer of a compact, portable type comprising a vessel, a handle, which is mounted to the vessel, a basket, which is adapted to be lowered and raised within the basket, a cover, which fits removably onto the vessel so as to cover the vessel, and means for lowering and raising the basket within the vessel while the vessel remains covered by the cover, wherein the handle has opposite ends mounted pivotally to opposite sides of the vessel, an improvement is disclosed wherein the basket lowering and raising means comprises a pair of pins, each of which is attached to one of the ends of the handle so as to rotate as the handle is pivoted, and which are linked to the basket so as to lower and raise the basket within the vessel as the handle is pivoted oppositely.

Abstract: An electrical hot air grill includes a control and stand unit, a blower and heating unit, a grilling compartment bounded by two shells, a device for supporting articles to be grilled in the grilling compartment and an apertured plate mounted on the blower and heating unit and arranged between the blower and heating unit and the grilling compartment.

Abstract: A filter coffee machine mainly intended for domestic use is provided consisting of a unit which includes a filter and a water container. This unit is mountable on a coffee pot which is itself connected to an electric continuous flow heater which can also serve as a hot plate for the coffee pot. An outlet from the water container and a cold water feed pipe to the heater are detachably connected to each other and a heated water riser pipe is made up of an upper and a lower part detachably interconnected. It is preferred to have a closure for the lower pipe part which automatically closes when the said unit is removed from the coffee pot.

Abstract: A steam iron is provided with a feed valve to supply water to a vaporizing chamber. The feed valve comprises a valve member of metal which is encased in a plastics part, both the valve member and plastics part having a through flow aperture which supplies water to the vaporization chamber in response to operation of a valve stem. The said plastics part is so shaped and arranged that it extends into the vaporization chamber. In this way deposits of lime on the outer surface of the plastics part is avoided and movement of the valve stem in the aperture prevents lime deposits on the stem or in the aperture.
