Abstract: Biomaterials are disclosed comprised of biodegradable, biocompatible, and bioabsorbable non-woven fabric materials for use in surgery for the guided regeneration of tissues. The non-woven fabric materials are comprised of threads embedded in a matrix, wherein both the matrix and the threads can be comprised of esters of hyaluronic acid, used singly or in combination, or esters of hyaluronic acid in combination with esters of alginic acid or other polymers.
Abstract: A voltage regulator includes an input terminal adapted for being coupled to an input voltage and an output terminal adapted for being coupled to a load. The voltage regulator includes a first switch adapted for selectively coupling to the input terminal and to the output terminal, a current sensor for measuring an output current flowing towards the output terminal, a voltage sensor for measuring the output voltage from the output terminal, and a digital controller which drives the first switch. The controller closes the first switch when the error voltage is less than a first preset value of voltage and opens the first switch when the output current is greater than a first preset value of current.

Abstract: A subscriber's telephone system is presented that includes at least one driver circuit connected to Tip and Ring terminals. An additional network is connected between an output of the driver circuit and the Ring terminal. This additional network includes a suitably dimensioned capacitor and a diode limiter connected in parallel with each other to minimize the overall voltage while maintaining a desired battery mean value.

Abstract: In a machine for making filter bags for infusion products, a flattened tube (34) is used which is made from a web (17) of filter paper that: is heat-sealable by thermal reactivation of a layer of glue; is fed continuously in the horizontal position; has individual charges (19) of the infusion product placed on its top surface at suitable intervals; and, lastly, is gradually folded onto itself until its longitudinal edges (18) are juxtaposed. An apparatus (250) for sealing the tube (34) comprises an operator block (94) bearing two rows (251) of emitters (96) designed to give off a gaseous fluid heated to a suitable temperature. The operator block (94), accommodated inside the tube (34) with the emitters (96) aligned and juxtaposed with the edges (18), directs the fluid against internal faces (97) of the tube (34) directly at the layer of glue on the web (17) which is simultaneously folded around the operator block (94) itself.
Abstract: A carpet pad comprises a two-layer structure of a cushion and a barrier film formed of a synthetic polymeric material free of any fibrous substrate laminated thereto. The barrier film may be directly bonded to the cushion or bonded thereto using a layer of adhesive. The carpet pad is simultaneously impermeable to liquid deposited onto the pad from above the barrier film and permeable to moisture vapor at a moisture vapor transmission rate of at least 14.6 grams per square meter per twenty-four hours (14.6 g/m2/24 hours). The carpet pad is sufficiently durable to maintain liquid impermeability as measured by a Vetterman Drum Wear Test/Staining/Stain Cleaning Test after at least ten thousand cycles or under a pressure of at least eight pounds per square inch (0.56 kg per square meter) as measured by a Modified Mullen Bursting Strength Test.
Abstract: An integrated circuit includes an input pad for receiving an externally generated analog signal, and a pre-sampling circuit for pre-sampling at least one internally generated analog reference signal. An analog-to-digital converter is connected to the input pad for providing a numerical value of the externally generated analog signal, and is connected to the pre-sampling circuit for providing a numerical value of the internally generated analog reference signal. A fault signaling circuit is connected to the pre-sampling circuit and to the analog-to-digital converter for generating a fault signal when the numerical value of the externally generated analog signal is equal to the numerical value of the internally generated analog reference signal. The fault signal indicates that an electrical connection providing the externally generated analog signal to the input pad is faulty.
Abstract: The cells of the stacked type each comprise a MOS transistor formed in an active region of a substrate of semiconductor material and a capacitor formed above the active region; each MOS transistor has a first and a second conductive region and a control electrode and each capacitor has a first and a second plate separated by a dielectric region material, for example, ferroelectric one. The first conductive region of each MOS transistor is connected to the first plate of a respective capacitor, the second conductive region of each MOS transistor is connected to a respective bit line, the control electrode of each MOS transistor is connected to a respective word line, the second plate of each capacitor is connected to a respective plate line. The plate lines run perpendicular to the bit line and parallel to the word lines. At least two cells adjacent in a parallel direction to the bit lines share the same dielectric region material and the same plate line.
Abstract: A system for data transmission on board a vehicle, such as a cycle, includes a set of peripheral modules which can be associated to respective sensors for generating respective sensing signals, and a main unit designed to receive the sensing signals coming from the set of peripheral modules. The peripheral modules are configured to transmit the sensing signals in a selective way and in the framework of respective transmission time slots determined by the main unit according to a general criterion of measurement of transmission times and power consumption.
Abstract: A collecting container (1) for insecticide apparatus (2) comprises a base wall (9), side walls (10) extending transversely of the base wall (9) and an upper wall (11) engaging the tops of the side walls (10) and in which an access opening (13) is formed for entry of the insects captured by the apparatus itself. In engagement at the access opening (13) is a rocking element (16) movable in rotation for closing and/or opening the access opening depending on the air circulation within the apparatus (2). Abstract: The present invention relates to a paint particularly for plastic materials, comprising one or more acrylic-based resins that can undergo cross linking by exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, one or more photo-initiators to induce cross-linking of said acrylic resin (or more resins) in the presence of UV radiation, and one or more fillers. The invention further relates to a method for painting a substrate, such as the housings of cellphones, in which said paint is applied on the material and is made to undergo cross-linking by means of exposure to ultraviolet radiation.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of N-acylvanillinamide derivatives capable of activating the peripheral receptor CB1 of cannabinoids. Abstract: In a method for multiplication of floating-point real numbers, encoded in a binary way in sign, exponent and mantissa, the multiplication of the mantissa envisages a step of calculation of partial products, which are constituted by a set of addenda corresponding to the mantissa. In order to reduce the size and power consumption of the circuits designed for calculation, there is adopted a method of binary encoding which envisages setting the first bit of the mantissa to a value 1, in order to obtain a mantissa having a value comprised between 0.5 and 1. Also proposed are methods for rounding of the product and circuits for the implementation of the multiplication method. Also illustrated are circuits for conversion from and to encoding of floating-point teal numbers according to the IEEE754 standard. Preferential application is in portable and/or wireless electronic devices, such as mobile telephones and PDAs, with low power-consumption requirements.
Abstract: The present invention proposes a Field Programmable Gate Array device comprising a plurality of configurable electrical connections, a plurality of controlled switches, each one adapted to activating/de-activating at least one respective electrical connection in response to a switch control signal and a control unit including an arrangement of a plurality of control cells. Each control cells controls at least one of said controlled switches by the respective switch control signal, each control cell including a volatile storage element adapted to storing in a volatile way a control logic value corresponding to a preselected status of the at least one controlled switch, and providing to the controlled switch said switch control signal corresponding to the stored logic value. Each control cell further includes a non-volatile storage element coupled to the volatile storage element, the non-volatile storage element being adapted to storing in a non-volatile way the control logic value.

The vector quantization is performed by means of repeated application of a scalar quantizer to the pixels of said blocks with a quantization step (Q) determined in an adaptive way according to the characteristics of sharpness and/or brightness of the pixels and representing said vector quantization in a n-dimensional space indicative of the characteristics on n of said pixels in the block partitioned into cells of size proportional to said quantization step, each cell being assigned to an appropriate binary code, wherein said process further includes identifying at least one symmetry element in said n-dimensional space suitable for separating at least two symmetrical set of cells, and selecting one of said at least two symmetrical set of cells for the assignment of said binary codes.

Abstract: A bicycle safety pedal including a toe element for receiving a front end of the cleat and a rear fastening device, which is suitable for engaging the rear end of the cleat when the rear end of the cleat is pressed over the rear fastening device. The cleat is released by moving the rear end laterally. The resting surface of the cleat on the pedal includes a cam surface for lifting the side of the cleat, which is moved away from the centre of the pedal when the releasing rotation is imposed on the cleat. The cam surface is only arranged on the side of the pedal facing outwards (with reference to the fitting condition of the bicycle), so to be operative only when the rear end of the cleat is moved laterally outwards, i.e., distanced with respect to the bicycle, starting from the engaged position.
Abstract: A bumper assembly for a vehicle and the corresponding vehicle comprising said bumper assembly are described. The assembly comprises: at least two crash boxes; a cross member made of a first plastic material which, during use, extends over a distance at least corresponding to that between the crash boxes; and at least two substantially indeformable connecting devices connected to said cross member for rigidly fixing said cross member to said chassis of the vehicle, wherein said at least two substantially indeformable connecting devices are connected to the cross member at positions corresponding to the crash boxes. In a preferred embodiment, the crash boxes and the connecting devices are made of plastic material.
Abstract: Described herein is an erase method for an electrically erasable nonvolatile memory device, in particular an EEPROM-FLASH nonvolatile memory device, comprising a memory array formed by a plurality of memory cells arranged in rows and columns and grouped in sectors each formed by a plurality of subsectors, which are in turn formed by one or more rows. Erase of the memory array is performed by sectors and for each sector envisages applying an erase pulse to the gate terminals of all the memory cells of the sector, verifying erase of the memory cells of each subsector, and applying a further erase pulse to the gate terminals of the memory cells of only the subsectors that are not completely erased.
