  • Publication number: 20010040888
Abstract: A switching circuit is for switching an output thereof to one of a plurality of N input clock signals which are delayed relative to one another. The switching circuit includes at least one circuit responding to a control signal to enable the transmission, on an output signal, of a new signal of the plurality of input signals. The new signal is advanced or delayed relative to a current signal of the plurality of input signals which is currently transmitted on the output signal. The at least one circuit enables the transmission of the new signal before disabling the transmission of the current signal on the output signal. This substantially prevents the production of false signals during the switching of the output signal from one of the clock signals to another.

  • Patent number: 6317236
Abstract: An embodiment includes an optical source, an optical receiver, and an interconnecting optical fiber. A data sequence is received and encoded or formatted as an IP packet using an encoding format capable of returning a signal representing the IP packet to a predetermined value at the beginning of each bit period of the IP packet at a physical layer of the network. The encoded IP packet is then transmitted directly over an optical layer of the network without adapting the IP packet to another encoding format or using an adaptation layer in the network (e.g., at a data link layer or higher). The optical receiver receives the IP packet and then a clock signal is extracted without the overhead and costs associated with additional adaptation or encoding of the IP packet.

  • Publication number: 20010039233
Abstract: A device for varying, in an exercise apparatus, forces and movements between a movement organ and resistive means, comprises a pulley; a movable structure, bearing a pivot pin for the rotation of the pulley, whereto is applied a traction force correlated to the muscle effort of the person performing the exercise; a cable element wound on the pulley, forming a pair of parallel branches, whereof one is connected to the resistive means, the other to a bar able to move within a guide. The device comprises selective fastening means which, in a first operative condition, anchor the bar to the guide opposing twice the force of the resistive means to the pin; and which, in the second operative condition, allow the bar to translate until it abuts against the movable structure, opposing a reaction force equal to the reaction force of the resistive means to the pin.

  • Patent number: 6312749
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for producing a corrugated pasta sheet, facilitating the adherence of the sauce to the surface, in which the pasta sheet is obtained by forcibly extruding the dough through a slot in a die plate, comprising the stages during which at least one surface of the sheet is crimped repeatedly using at least one raised arm-type flexible, elasticized blade whose free end comes into contact with the sheet. The blade is inflected reciprocally by the dragging action exerted on it by the sheet as it passes through the slot and by the returning action produced by its elastic properties. An apparatus putting into operation the method described above also forms part of the invention.

  • Patent number: 6313041
Abstract: Presented is a method of enhancing the rate of removal of a photoresist layer from wafers of semiconductor material after the latter have gone through various process steps to define the patterns of integrated circuits. The method includes heating the wafer and treating it with low-pressure steam in a vacuum environment before starting to remove the photoresist by plasma or wet solutions. This pre-treatment of the photoresists allows the time for removing the photoresist to be reduced substantially and eliminates problems from residue.

  • Patent number: 6312503
Abstract: A method and apparatus for quenching and scrubbing a hot gas using a liquid in a single packed column while controlling mist formation. Hot gas is introduced at the bottom of the column and drawn upward countercurrent to the scrubbing liquid. The column has three stages, each packed and fed liquid from above. The first stage is a quench region wherein the gas flow rate, liquid flow rate and liquid temperature are controlled such that the quench rate does not exceed 5.4° C./ft2 of packing to prevent formation of an aerosol mist. The second and third stages for scrubbing employ packed regions separately supplied with increasingly cooler and purer liquid.

  • Patent number: RE37440
Abstract: The filter includes an arithmetical chain of parallel adders alternated with delay elements, and a memory constituted by lines of one-bit cells. Each line is addressable by a decoder controlled by a digital signal to be filtered; each line of memory contains side by side values which correspond to the partial products of successive impulse-response coefficients for a value equal to the line address. The memory additionally includes a number of read amplifiers. The number of read amplifiers is equal to the number of cells of one line in order to read the bits of the addressed. The outputs of the amplifiers are connected to respective parallel inputs of the adders of the arithmetical chain. Each memory line contains these values in two's-complement binary form in words which decrease in length by one bit for each increment of 2 in the characteristic of the coefficients, starting from the one of lowest characteristic.
