Abstract: In accordance with one embodiment, a method for securing data is disclosed. The method includes sensing multi-dimensional motion of a body part of a user to generate a multi-dimensional signal; in response to the multi-dimensional signal and user calibration parameters, generating a neuro-mechanical fingerprint; and encrypting data with an encryption algorithm using the neuro-mechanical fingerprint as a key.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of encoding and/or decoding data for optical data transmission along a transmission link, as well as corresponding transmitters and receivers. The data is encoded based on an adaptive constellation diagram in a 2-D plane, said constellation diagram including a first and a second pair of symbols, wherein the symbols of the first pair of symbols are located at opposite sides of the origin of the 2-D plane at a first distance di from each other, and wherein the symbols of the second pair of symbols are located at opposite sides of the origin of the 2-D plane at a second distance d2 from each other. The method comprises a step of adapting the constellation diagram by varying the ratio of the first and second distances d1, d2 such as to minimize or nearly minimize a bit error rate in the transmitted data.

Abstract: The present invention relates to heterogeneous catalysts and methods of making and using the same. In various embodiments, the present invention provides a method of making a hydrogenation catalyst including particulate nickel metal (Ni(0)). The method includes calcining first nickel(II)-containing particles in an atmosphere including oxidizing constituents to generate second nickel(II)-containing particles. The method also includes reducing the second nickel(II)-containing particles in a reducing atmosphere while rotating or turning the second nickel(II)-containing particles at about 275° C. to about 360° C. for a time sufficient to generate the particulate nickel metal (Ni(0)), wherein the particulate nickel metal (Ni(0)) is free flowing.
Abstract: A method displays information graphically on an image captured by a vehicular optical system. The method includes capturing the image and identifying an object in the image. The method the assigns a priority level to the object based on a predetermined criterion. The object is altered based on its priority level to create an altered object. An altered object may have a changed color, a colored halo surrounding it, or a colored object inside it. Other possible ways to alter the way the object looks are possible. The altered object is displayed in the image in place of the object on a mobile device to alert a person of its presence and the priority level associated therewith.

Abstract: A pressure sensor is provided that comprises an upper wafer formed from a dielectric material, the upper wafer having channels. The upper wafer includes a first capacitor plate and a second capacitor plate formed on a lower surface of the upper wafer. An inductor is contained within the channels in the upper wafer in fixed relation to the first and second capacitor plates. A lower wafer is formed from the dielectric material. A third capacitor plate is formed on an inner surface of the lower wafer. The upper and lower wafers are fused together to form a monolithic housing such that the first and second capacitor plates are arranged in parallel, spaced-apart relation from the third capacitor plate. The lower wafer comprising a pressure sensitive deflective region underlying the third capacitor plate. The deflective region deflects in response to changes in ambient pressure in the medium.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for renal neuromodulation using a pulsed electric field to effectuate electroporation or electrofusion. It is expected that renal neuromodulation (e.g., denervation) may, among other things, reduce expansion of an acute myocardial infarction, reduce or prevent the onset of morphological changes that are affiliated with congestive heart failure, and/or be efficacious in the treatment of end stage renal disease. Embodiments of the present invention are configured for percutaneous intravascular delivery of pulsed electric fields to achieve such neuromodulation.
