Patent number: 12367869Abstract: A conversational assistant for conversational engagement platform can contain various modules including a user-model augmentation module, a dialogue management module, and a user-state analysis input/output module. The dialogue management module receives metrics tied to a user from the other modules to understand a current topic and a user's emotions regarding the current topic from the user-state analysis input/output module and then adapts dialogue from the dialogue management module to the user based on dialogue rules factoring in these different metrics. The dialogue rules also factors in both i) a duration of a conversational engagement with the user and ii) an attempt to maintain a positive experience for the user with the conversational engagement. A flexible ontology relationship representation about the user is built and stores learned metrics about the user over time with each conversational engagement, and then in combination with the dialogue rules, drives the conversations with the user.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2020Date of Patent: July 22, 2025Assignee: SRI InternationalInventors: Edgar T. Patent number: 12361925Abstract: A speech recognition module receives training data of speech and creates a representation for individual words, non-words, phonemes, and any combination. A set of speech processing detectors analyze the training data of speech from humans communicating. The set of speech processing detectors detect speech parameters that are indicative of paralinguistic effects on top of enunciated words, phonemes, and non-words in the audio stream. One or more machine learning models undergo supervised machine learning on their neural network to train on how to associate one or more mark-up markers with a textual representation, for each individual word, individual non-word, individual phoneme, and any combinations of these, that was enunciated with a particular paralinguistic effect. Each mark-up marker can correspond to its own paralinguistic effect.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2020Date of Patent: July 15, 2025Assignee: SRI InternationalInventors: Harry Bratt, Colleen Richey, Maneesh Yadav

Patent number: 12359708Abstract: A variety of transmission mechanisms are provided that include ‘radially inverted’ pulleys that are nested within each other or otherwise overlap in order to exert ‘inward’ forces onto a compressive belt that transmits power between the pulleys. By exerted forces ‘inward’ onto the belt, the belt can be subjected to net compression everywhere along its length. This allows the belt to be less complex and to have a lower cost than belts of transmissions that exert forces ‘outward’ from pulleys onto a belt, thus requiring expensive and technically challenging belt packs or other elements to sustain the longitudinal tensions experienced by such belts, even when such belts are operated as “push” belts. Transmissions that include such ‘radially inverted’ pulleys can exhibit reduced size and cost and increased power capacity compared to transmissions that employ ‘non-radially inverted’ pulleys.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2022Date of Patent: July 15, 2025Assignee: SRI InternationalInventor: Alexander Kernbaum
