  • Patent number: 6434401
Abstract: To make a multiband transmitter-receiver without having to greatly increase the number of oscillators used for the modulation and demodulation of signals located in frequency bands that are very different from one another, a pair (13, 14) of programmable frequency dividers is used, installed in a transmission circuit comprising a transmission frequency oscillator (3, 30), a single transition frequency oscillator and an intermediate frequency oscillator. To go from a use (11) in one band to a use in another hand, it is enough, by means of a microprocessor (15), to modify the division coefficients of the programmable dividers by using infradyne and supradyne dividers.

  • Patent number: 6397798
Abstract: The electromagnetic valve actuator has a valve drive armature and return springs provided to hold the valve in a determined rest position substantially halfway between two extreme positions namely a valve closed position and a valve open position. An electromagnetic unit has a ferromagnetic core placed on both sides of the armature and a power supply circuit. The power circuit calculates the velocity with which the armature approaches each of its extreme positions by measuring the current flowing through the electromagnetic unit and it applies a current to the electromagnetic unit which servo-controls variation of the velocity for compliance with a determined reference profile.

  • Patent number: 6388405
Abstract: The motor has a stator and a rotor. One of the elements has coils constituting a three-phase winding and an electronic control module having inputs connected to rotor position sensors and to a speed reference signal (Vc), and including a power circuit for powering the phases from a DC source under the control of a processor. The processor causes the phases to be powered at variable duty ratio so as to regulate speed in a first mode without overlap in time between the periods in which the various phases are powered with voltage pulses, and in a second mode in which there is 33% overlap of power to two phases, and it causes a changeover from the first mode to the second mode when the duty ratio reaches a predetermined value lying in the range 70% to 100%, and a changeover from the second mode to the first mode when the duty ratio falls below another predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 6385511
Abstract: Detection and transmission modules respectively fitted on several wheels of the vehicle are set up to transmit a detection signal incorporating an indication of a state of the wheel. The sensed signal is compared with several waveforms, respectively stored in relation to wheel positions, in order to select a wheel position for which the stored waveform matches the sensed signal. After pre-processing the sensed signal and identifying extrema of the pre-processed signal, the comparison between the sensed signal and a waveform comprises applying a time transform to the pre-processed signal to align first and second extrema of the pre-processed signal with first and second extrema of said waveform and computing a distance between the transformed signal and said waveform. The wheel position selected is the one for which the computed distance is minimum.

  • Patent number: 6357429
Abstract: The apparatus for estimating the richness of the mixture admitted into each of the n combustion chambers of an engine having injectors comprises a sensor (26) supplying an output signal that varies in substantially linear manner with richness and that is placed at the junction point between the exhausts from the chambers, and also comprises calculation means. These means store a model of the behavior of the exhaust at the junction point based on the assumption that the richness at the junction point is a weighted sum of contributions from the exhausts from the individual chambers, with the weighting coefficient being smaller with increasing age of the combustion in the chamber, and serving on each pass through top dead center to estimate the air/fuel ratio on the basis of the measured values and of the model.

  • Patent number: 6310461
Abstract: The leakage current in a circuit for charging a battery is eliminated by placing a switch in series with the resistor connecting the emitter and the base of a transistor. When this switch is open the current can no longer flow through and there is therefore no longer any leakage current. This switch is controlled by a microprocessor through a bus and the battery can be charged in pulsed mode. Furthermore, the circuit has no protection diode against reverse voltage and over voltage.
