Abstract: The subject of the invention is a glass composition of the silica-soda-lime type, having a UV transmission such that T.sub.UV.ISO <15%, and preferably T.sub.UV.ISO .ltoreq.13%, for a glass thickness of between 2.85 mm and 4.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for extruding a plastic spacer directly on an object, in particular on the periphery of window glazing, such as automobile glazing intended to be glued into the opening of a vehicle. In particular the invention relates to properly producing the connection zone between the end and the beginning of the extruded spacer when it forms a closed loop. According to the invention the beginning of the spacer and the remainder of the loop are extruded, with the exception of the connection zone. The object is then provided with an applied anti-adhesive deposit surface that is continuous with the surface of the object. The path of the extrusion head is diverted in relation to the surface of the object so that the extrusion occurs on the applied deposit surface, proximate to and beyond the beginning of the spacer loop. The extruded spacer is then allowed to harden and the extremities of the spacer are cut and adjusted to properly complete the connection.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of glass sheets, according to which molten glass is poured into a liquid support which is denser than the glass to form a glass strip. The glass strip is drawn and is accompanied in its movement using a continuous and flexible guiding element made of a solid material capable of adhering to the molten glass, the elements being brought into contact with the side edges of the strip. The product (P) of the value (s) of the speed of the strip and of the value (t) of its final thickness is less than 2.5.times.10.sup.-4 m.sup.2 s.sup.-1. The process makes it possible to obtain thin glass sheets exhibiting a constant thickness and a satisfactory optical quality.
Abstract: Glass sheets are bent in stages into the final shape in a horizontal position in two successive bending stations. The glass sheets heated to bending temperature are laid on a fabric carrier arranged resiliently on a rigid support frame. The glass sheets are conveyed stepwise with the fabric carrier and the support frame through the bending system, and are bent together with the fabric carrier which adapts to the shape of the glass sheets.
