Abstract: A method for packing catalysts comprising packing the catalysts having through-holes in the direction of the flow of the gas with plurality of them being arranged in the direction of the flow of the gas through the catalyst-packed layers, characterized by arranging the catalysts in such manner that the sections of the connecting parts in the direction of the flow of the gas do not lie on the same plane as at least one of the above sections of the connecting parts formed by the adjacent catalysts.
Abstract: In a method for treating a gas containing dusts therein under a monolithic catalyst consisting of a ceramic support which is substantially porous throughout the structure, and has active ingredients uniformly dispersed therein and passages therethrough parallel to the flow of the gas for allowing the gas to pass therethrough, the improvement in which the catalyst has the sintered front portion or has a vitreous coating on the front portion. Alternatively, the improvement in which a metal or sintered ceramic lid having openings therethrough is fixed onto the front face of the catalyst with the passages in alignment with the openings of the lid.
Abstract: A method is provided for producing a catalyst and a carrier therefor in the form of sheet or honeycomb. The method comprises: beating a heat-resistant fiber such as asbesto fiber in water to form a slurry; mixing the slurry with a catalytically active agent, a carrier material therefor and/or their precursors to fix such materials in the fiber, thus forming a stock; and forming the stock into a sheet and drying the same. The sheet thus obtained may be formed into a honeycomb structure with an improved adhesive.
Abstract: An improved method for manufacturing a magnet paper sheet which comprises: thoroughly mixing about 70-90 parts by weight of magnetoplumbite barium ferrite powder and/or magnetoplumbite strontium ferrite powder essentially consisting of particles of primary particle size of about 0.1-2 microns and of secondary particle size smaller than about 20 microns, an anionic synthetic latex containing about 1-10 parts by weight in dry weight of a synthetic rubber and/or a synthetic resin such as SBR, NBR, polyvinyl acetate and polyacrylate, about 2-10 weight % of a cationic organic polymer electrolyte such as polyamine and polyethyleneimine based on the amount of the synthetic rubber and/or resin, and more than about 5 parts by weight of pulp fibers together into a slurry; forming the slurry into a paper sheet; and magnetizing the paper sheet.
Abstract: Single crystalline, acicular ferric oxide particles are produced by maintaining an aqueous suspension of ferric hydroxide at an elevated temperature at an alkaline pH in the presence of an organic phosphonic acid compound or a hydroxycarboxylic acid compound as a growth-regulating agent.
Abstract: Single crystalline, ferrite particles are obtained by the thermal reaction of ferric oxyhydroxide, ferric hydroxide, porous ferric oxide made therefrom or ferric oxide having a particle size less than 0.8.mu. with a strontium or barium compound such as the oxide, hydroxide, the carbonate or the carboxylate in the presence of a small amount of a metal chloride flux such as strontium chloride or barium chloride. The resulting particles have a well-defined, hexagonal plate configuration and are particularly adapted for the production of anisotropic magnets.
Abstract: A process for preparing shaped catalysts or carriers mainly containing titanium oxide and improved in mechanical strength which comprises calcining a material mainly comprising titanium oxide or a substance convertible into titanium oxide on calcination in the presence of metatitanic acid sol or gel, said metatitanic acid sol being the one prepared by deflocculation of metatitanic acid obtained in the course of the production of titanium oxide according to a conventional sulfuric acid process and said metatitanic acid gel being the one prepared by adjusting said metatitanic acid sol to pH 1 or higher.

Abstract: The invention provides a guide line tracer adapted to be mounted forwardly of a line marker for marking lines on the road surface. Said guide line tracer comprises a pantograph link mechanism capable of extension and contraction through a remote control system whereby when not in use, it can be contracted to the shortest length but when in use, it can be selectively extended so as to permit the indicator to be always disposed in the most suitable position for an operator to look at.The invention further dissolves the problems of deadening the vibrations of the indicator so as to induce the indicator to trace exactly along a guide line.
