  • Patent number: 11363866
Abstract: Process of making a plastic component (1), in particular luggage shell, from self-reinforced thermoplastic material, to a plastic component (1) made of self-reinforced thermoplastic material and an apparatus for making such a plastic component, in particular luggage shell (7). The invention provides a new product and process for manufacturing same on the basis of self-reinforced thermoplastic material by means of the step of tensioning said material (lamina), at least partially tensioning said lamina during all follow-up component shaping and/or molding steps up to a release of a component pre-form shape from the remainder lamina, to form the component. The present invention allow the manufacturing of an ultra-light weight luggage shell (7) on the basis of using self-reinforced thermoplastic material, the manufacturing of same can be further enhanced by permanently tensioning said material during all manufacturing steps up to the final finishing of the product.

  • Patent number: 11215498
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a weighing assembly (100) for a luggage case (101). The weighing assembly (100) includes at least one support (107) in contact with a surface that supports a portion of a weight of the luggage case (101). A floating element (108) is coupled to the support (107). A deflection member (110) is coupled to the floating element (108), and the portion of the weight of the luggage case (101) causes an elastic deflection of the deflection member (110). A load cell member (112) disposed adjacent to and separate from the deflection member (110). The load cell member (112) is separate from the deflection member (110) the elastic deflection of the deflection member (110) causes a deflection of the load cell member (112), the load cell member (112) senses the amount of deflection, which correlates to the portion of the weight of the luggage (101).

  • Patent number: 11166531
Abstract: An adjustable securing arrangement for securing an object within a luggage article is provided. The securing arrangement may include opposing front and rear panels, a turnbuckle, and at least one flexible strap extending from one of the front and rear panels and at least partially through the turnbuckle to then be releasably secured to the one of the front and rear panels. Each strap may include a first portion arranged to extend around at least one side of the object, and a second portion arranged to extend over a top side of the object. The turnbuckle may redirect each strap such that the first portion extends at an angle (?) to the second portion. The first and second portions may be adjusted simultaneously relative to the turnbuckle by a user pulling a distal end of each strap to secure or release the object between the front and rear panels.

  • Patent number: 10897970
Abstract: A luggage article may include a plurality of walls together defining an outer structure of the luggage article, a wheel bracket attached to and extending from one of the walls, and one or more wheels attached to the wheel bracket. The wheel bracket may comprise a leaf spring having a loop-shaped profile and the one or more wheels may be rotationally attached to a lower end of the loop-shaped leaf spring. The configuration of the wheel bracket may result in higher shock absorption and reduced wheel noise comparative to conventional wheel brackets, and offer an improvement and alternative to conventional luggage wheel brackets.

  • Patent number: 10806238
Abstract: A backpack including a flexible hip belt assembly is provided. The backpack may include a frame assembly defining a lower portion, a hip belt including a central portion and a lower portion with opposing first and second arms extending from the central portion. The lower portion of the hip belt and the lower portion of the frame assembly may be securely coupled together to support a substantially vertical load. A resilient member may couple the hip belt to the frame assembly. The resilient member may expand or contract as the hip belt and frame assembly move relative to one another to reduce the forces applied to the hip belt by the non-vertical movement of the frame assembly.
