  • Patent number: 11498282
Abstract: A method, system, and apparatus for fabricating an acoustic metamaterial is provided. In an embodiment, a method for fabricating an acoustic metamaterial includes determining at least one tuned physical property for each of a plurality of micro-resonators according to a desired acoustic property of the acoustic metamaterial. For a particular physical property, a value of the tuned physical property for at least one of the plurality of micro-resonators is different from a value of the tuned physical property for at least one other of the plurality of micro-resonators. The method also includes additively forming the acoustic metamaterial such that the acoustic metamaterial comprises a first structure and the plurality of micro-resonators embedded within the first structure. Forming the acoustic metamaterial is performed such that an actual physical property of each of the plurality of micro-resonators is equal to a corresponding tuned physical property for each of the plurality of micro-resonators.

  • Patent number: 11494464
Abstract: An array circuit includes a plurality of vector-matrix multiplication (VMM) elements arranged in rows and columns. The VMM elements are configured to collectively perform multiplication of an input vector by a programmed input matrix to generate a plurality of output values that are representative of a result matrix that is the result of multiplication of the input vector and the input matrix. The VMM elements store states of the input matrix. Input voltages to the array are representative of elements of the input vector. A VMM element draws charge from a column read line based upon charging of a capacitor in the VMM. An integrator circuit connected to the column read line outputs a voltage that is indicative of a total charge drawn from the column read line by elements connected to the read line, which voltage is further indicative of an element of a result matrix.

  • Patent number: 11484867
Abstract: An electrocatalyst comprises a crumpled transition metal dichalcogenide support loaded with catalytic metal nanoparticles through spontaneous reduction reactions. The support can be prepared by hydrothermal conversion of 2D nanosheets to 3D hierarchically crumpled sheets. As an example, using crumpled MoS2 as a support, highly tunable Ru loadings were obtained using the electrostatic interaction between MoS2 and RuCl3 in solution. Control over Ru loading was leveraged to produce Ru—MoS2 electrocatalysts that demonstrate different nitrogen reduction reaction activities, and which show varying resistance to electrochemical sintering and deactivation. Further, these high surface area materials can be utilized for many applications, including electrocatalysts, supercapacitors, and batteries.

  • Patent number: 11482560
Abstract: A monolithically integrated, tunable infrared pixel comprises a combined broadband detector and graphene-enabled tunable metasurface filter that operate as a single solid-state device with no moving parts. Functionally, tunability results from the plasmonic properties of graphene that are acutely dependent upon the carrier concentration within the infrared. Voltage induced changes in graphene's carrier concentration can be leveraged to change the metasurface filter's transmission thereby altering the “colors” of light reaching the broadband detector and hence its spectral responsivity. The invention enables spectrally agile infrared detection with independent pixel-to-pixel spectral tunability.

  • Patent number: 11482660
Abstract: A metal stack for templating the growth of AlN and ScAlN films is disclosed. The metal stack comprises one, two, or three layers of metal, each of which is compatible with CMOS post-processing. The metal stack provides a template that promotes the growth of highly textured c-axis {002} AlN and ScAlN films. The metal stacks include one or more metal layers with each metal layer having either a hexagonal {002} orientation or a cubic {111} orientation. If the metal stack includes two or more metal layers, the layers can alternate between hexagonal {002} and cubic {111} orientations. The use of ScAlN results in a higher piezoelectric constant compared to that of AlN for ScAlN alloys up to approximately 44% Sc. The disclosed metal stacks resulted in ScAlN films having XRD FWHM values of less than approximately 1.1° while significantly reducing the formation of secondary grains in the ScAlN films.

  • Patent number: 11469765
Abstract: A system and corresponding method that achieves coherency and deterministic latency (CDL) autonomously upon power on is disclosed. The system, for example, a multi-channel RF system, may require CDL with respect to the digital-to-analog converters (DACs) and analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) assigned to the channels in the system. CDL is achieved through a timed combination of external reference and synchronization signals, resetting and disabling of various clock dividers, and enabling clock generation. In addition to synchronizing all of the clocks, the data acquisition sequence must be synchronized across all of the channels, whether they are on chips, cards, or chassis. Data acquisition synchronization may be implemented using an initiator/target or a wired OR mode configuration.

  • Patent number: 11456701
Abstract: Both parallel-type and serial-type dual-mode oscillators employing stress compensated cut resonators having various configurations are disclosed. Both classes of dual-mode oscillators employ multiple tank circuits to pass one frequency of the resonator and block the other frequency. The tank circuits isolate the operation of the two oscillator sub-circuits that form the dual-mode oscillator from one another. The dual-mode oscillators may be implemented with either bipolar or CMOS transistors. The parallel-type dual-mode oscillators employ inverters to provide gain. The serial-type dual-mode oscillators employ a two (or three) stage design including a follower circuit first stage and an inverting amplifier/limiter circuit second stage, with an optional intervening transimpedance amplifier stage.

  • Patent number: 11450802
Abstract: A thermally sensitive ionic redox transistor comprises a solid channel, a solid reservoir layer, and a solid electrolyte layer disposed between the channel and the reservoir layer. A conductance of the channel is varied by changing the concentration of ions such as oxygen vacancies in the channel layer. Ionic conductivity of the gate, electrolyte, and channel layers increase with increasing temperature. Ion or vacancy transport between the channel and the reservoir layer across the electrolyte layer occurs in response to applying a voltage between the channel and the reservoir layer when the device is heated to an elevated temperature. When the device is cooled below the elevated temperature, the ions are trapped in one or more of the layers because the materials lose their ionic conductivity. A state of the redox transistor can be read by measuring the conductance of the channel.

  • Patent number: 11436475
Abstract: Detecting anomalies with a spiking neural network is provided. An input layer receives a number of inputs and converts them into phase-coded spikes, wherein each input is contained within a number of progressively larger neighborhoods of surrounding inputs. From the phase-coded spikes, a median value of each input is computed for each size neighborhood. An absolute difference of each input from its median value is computed for each size neighborhood. A median absolute difference (MAD) of each input is computed for each size neighborhood. For each input, an adaptive median filter (AMF) determines if a MAD for any size neighborhood exceeds a respective threshold. If one or more neighborhoods exceeds its threshold, the AMF outputs the median value of the input for the smallest neighborhood. If none of the neighborhoods exceeds the threshold, the AMF outputs the original value of the input.
