  • Patent number: 6796417
Abstract: A sorting system includes a train of carriages moving along a track. Each carriage has an electrically driven cross belt for onloading and unloading items to be sorted. Some, but less than all, of the carriages, i.e., master carriages, carry electricity generating equipment, such as a track-engaging wheel connected to an electrical alternator, for converting kinetic energy of the train into electric energy. That energy is made available to all of the carriages through wiring that interconnects the carriages.

  • Patent number: 6793446
Abstract: A tool holder for a cutting insert for chip removing machining includes a base body on which is disposed an insert-receiving seat for receiving a cutting insert. The seat includes an insert-support surface and two side surfaces upstanding from the insert-support surface. A slot forms a rear extension of the seat and includes a bottom surface disposed at a lower level than the insert-support surface. The body includes a wing which forms one side of the slot and one of the side surfaces of the insert seat. The side surfaces of the seat diverge in a direction away from the slot. A screw passes through a hole in the wing and extends transversely to a longitudinal direction of the slot. The screw is threadedly received in a hole formed in a side of the slot disposed opposite the wing, so that a tightening of the screw causes the side surfaces of the seat to more tightly grip the insert.

  • Publication number: 20040173379
Abstract: A power system includes a power unit, a screw compressor, a hydraulic pump, and a hydraulic control system. The screw compressor is connected to the power unit to be driven thereby for compressing air. The screw compressor has an air intake opening and an adjustable air intake valve mechanism for opening and closing the air intake opening. The hydraulic pump pressurizes hydraulic fluid, and the hydraulic control system is operably connected to the pump and to the air intake valve mechanism for utilizing the pressurized hydraulic fluid to adjust the air intake valve mechanism. The compressed air is delivered to an air reservoir which returns lubrication oil back to the compressor in quantities commensurate with the degree of openness of the air intake opening.

  • Patent number: 6783308
Abstract: Rotatable tool for chip removing machining includes a rotatable holder part and a cutting part that is detachably connected to a front end of the holder part. In the front end of the holder part, a forwardly open slot is formed, which separates two elastically flexible branches of the holder part. For clamping of the cutting part on the holder part, a male/female coupling is provided, which comprises a pin on either the holder part or the cutting part and a corresponding pin-receiving seat in the other part. If the pin is on the holder part, then a manually induced elastic deformation of the branches towards one another reduces the diameter of the pin to enable the pin to enter the female part. Subsequent return of the branches toward a rest state thereof causes the diameter of the pin to expand and tightly hold the cutting part.

  • Patent number: 6783307
Abstract: A rotatable tool for chip removing machining having a rotatable holder part and a cutting part that is detachably connected to a front end of the holder part. In a front end portion of the holder part, a forwardly open slot is formed, which separates two elastically flexible branches of the holder part. For clamping of the cutting part on the holder part, a male/female coupling is arranged, which comprises a centrical, male-like pin on one of the parts and a corresponding seat in the other part. Disposed on the holder part radially outside of the male/female coupling are thrust load carrying support surfaces, which surfaces are at least partially conical and are engaged by corresponding support surfaces of the cutting part. During a cutting operation, axial thrust loads transmitted to the axial thrust support surfaces cause the branches to be pressed in a direction intensifying the radial contact between the pin and the seat.

  • Publication number: 20040144302
Abstract: According to the present invention there is provided a body at least partially coated with one or more refractory layers of which at least one layer essentially consist of &agr;-Al2O3. Said &agr;-Al2O3 layer consists of essentially equiaxed grains with an average grain size of <1 &mgr;m and with a bimodal grain size distribution with coarser grains with an average grainsize in the interval 0.5-1 &mgr;m and finer grains with an average grainsize of <0.5 &mgr;m. The Al2O3 layer further contains striated zones containing titanium (>5 at %) but no nitrogen or carbon. This particular microstructure is obtained by temporarily stopping the gases needed for the growth of the Al2O3 layer and introducing TiCl4.

  • Patent number: 6767156
Abstract: Two components used in a percussive drill string include a spigot and a sleeve, respectively. The spigot includes a male thread connected to a female thread of the sleeve to form a thread joint. The male and female threads are dimensioned such that axially inner and outer end areas of the female thread are in non-engagement with the male thread when the thread joint is in a tightened state. The spigot includes axially inner and outer conical guiding surfaces facing toward respective axially outer and inner conical guiding surfaces, respectively. Each conical guiding surface forms an angle with a centerline of the sleeve, the angle lying in the range 1 to 20 degrees, to prevent the spigot and the sleeve from being welded together by frictional heat during a drilling operation.
