    Abstract: A boring bar, such as for internal turning, includes a front pocket that is defined by a shelf-like surface and a ramp surface, an insert seat that is countersunk in the shelf surface and disposed asymmetrically in relation to a center axis, a chip flute that is countersunk in the outside of the bar is disposed on the same side of the center axis as the insert seat, and an internal channel that supplies a fluid to the front part of the bar. The fluid channel ends in an outlet mouth disposed on the side of the bar that is opposite the insert seat in order to guide a flow of the fluid past the insert seat toward the front opening of the chip flute.

    Abstract: In a method for starting a crushing operation in a gyratory crusher in which rocks are passed through a crushing gap to be crushed, the following steps are carried out: (a) a driving device is started which causes a crushing head to execute a gyratory pendulum movement, and a first width of the crushing gap is set, (b) a supply of material to the gap is commenced, (c) the resulting load on the crusher is measured, (d) the width of the gap is adjusted so that the load approaches a desired value, (e) a measure which is representative of the width of the gap after adjustment, is read, and (f) such read measure is utilized for calculation of a gap width for use as a first width of the gap in carrying out step (a) of the next start-up of a crushing operation.

    Abstract: Method of combustion with a gas burner having a burner head at one end of an inner gas pipe surrounded by an outer protective pipe, wherein gases from the burner head flow inside the inner pipe and inside the outer pipe and thereafter flow into an exhaust channel. The inner pipe terminates short of the burner head; a sleeve downstream of the burner head, is inserted into and/or placed concentrically with the inner pipe so that the sleeve orifice is located within the inner pipe; a gap is provided between the opening of the inner pipe and the sleeve. The gap is sized such that the mixture of fuel and combustion air from the burner head and recycled exhaust gases passing through the gap will be mixed in quantities at which the temperature of combustion will be lower than the temperature in which NOx is formed.

    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a rotary tool for chip removing machining with at least one chip flute that extends in the longitudinal direction of the tool. The method involves preparing a mixture of a cemented carbide, cermet or ceramics powder and a carrier, such as a polymer, and placing the mixture in an extruding machine. The mixture is extruded in a feed direction by means of a die to form the diameter of the mixture body. The mixture body passes against a chisel which forms a chip flute in the outer periphery of the mixture body by chip-removing machining. When the chisel is displaced away from the mixture body, a non-fluted shaft portion is formed. By rotating the mixture body while contacted by the chisel, a helical chip flute can be formed. Alternatively, the body could be twisted after a straight flute has been formed, whereupon the flute becomes helical.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a cemented carbide insert with excellent properties for machining of steels and stainless steels. The cemented carbide comprises WC and 4-25% Co. The WC-grains have an average grain size in the range 0.2-3.5 ?m and a narrow grain size distribution in the range 0-4.5 ?m. According to the method of the invention a cemented carbide cutting tool insert is made by mixing powders of WC, TiC, TaC and/or NbC, binder metal and pressing agent, drying preferably by spray drying, pressing to inserts and sintering. The method characterised in that a deagglomerated WC-powder with a narrow grain size distribution is used, that the powders of TiC, TaC and/or NbC are deagglomerated and that the mixing is wet mixing with no change in grain size or grain size distribution.
