  • Patent number: 4748907
Abstract: In a dual belt press, the press belts are supported at each end by a first chain. The first chain includes spaced links through which a stud projects. A sleeve is mounted on each stud between the spaced links. The outer circumferences of adjacently disposed sleeves abut one another to prevent lateral displacement of the studs and rolls. A second chain is connected to the studs and is adapted to be driven in order to displace the rolls along a press zone of the press.

  • Patent number: 4743187
Abstract: In the production of a glass mat-reinforced thermoplastic, a mat and resin are pressed and heated in a compression zone of a dual belt press. The resin is metered onto the upper flights of the two belts of the press in powder form, and is heated at least to the extent that it adheres as a layer to those flights so as to be conveyed without difficulty into the compression zone. The glass fiber mat itself can be preimpregnated with resin prior to entering the press.

  • Patent number: 4722213
Abstract: A bent tube is formed by passing a straight tube through a diameter-reducing die such that the central axis of the die forms an acute angle with the direction by which the tube is pulled through the die. The acute angle can be kept constant in order to produce a tube having a constant radius of curvature. Alternatively, the acute angle can be changed during the drawing process to form the tube with a radius of curvature which varies along the tube length.

  • Patent number: 4690721
Abstract: Apparatus for the production of multilayer laminated plates, in particular circuit boards for electrotechnical applications, wherein webs of glass fiber roving fabric are impregnated with a synthetic resin binder, and subsequently pressed in a dual belt press. Upstream of the press, a heating table comprising a plurality of heating panels is provided. The webs of material, coated with the binder, are combined and impregnated in the heating zone. In the heating zone the binder used may be maintained exactly at the processing temperature. Rapid hardening binders may be used so that the transition of the binder from its liquid to its solid state takes place in the press even during short press durations.

  • Patent number: 4674924
Abstract: A single-sided cutting insert preferably for thread chasing, the lower face of which comprises three support surfaces inclining towards the center of the lower face and a recess separating them. The support surfaces are projecting partly around the recess and therefore the cutting insert at insertion against a base surface of a cutting insert site in a tool shank abuts only against the planar base surface in three separated points.

  • Saw
    Patent number: 4624053
Abstract: A saw has a plurality of generally V-shaped teeth formed by punching. The sides of each tooth define cutting edges. A bevel extends along each cutting edge. The bevels are formed by punching with a tool having a surface oriented non-perpendicular to the saw blank. Burrs formed during the punching step are not removed, but are allowed to remain to enhance the cutting ability of the teeth.

  • Patent number: 4624505
Abstract: A mineral cutter pick is mounted in a holder. Passages in the pick and the holder supply fluid to an opening near the pick cutting edge. Sleeves are provided in the adjacent ends of the passages in the pick and holder and receive the opposite ends of a tubular connector. At least one of the sealing sleeves has its outer face exposed to the fluid supply pressure so that sealing with the associated end of the connector is assisted by the pressure force. The ends of the connector are formed as spherical enlargements to allow free pivoting in their sleeves and at least one end is axially displaceable in its sleeve while maintaining sealing contact.

  • Patent number: 4623307
Abstract: A flowable substance is extruded from two coaxial telescoping cylindrical containers of which the outer is provided with openings on its periphery and is rotatable about the inner container. The substance is fed to the inner container and exits via a row of openings therein. As the outer container rotates, the inner and outer openings radially coincide cyclically whereby the substance falls in the form of drops onto a belt and solidifies. The row of openings of the inner container is provided in a nozzle bar which is removably attached to the periphery of a body part of the inner container.

  • Patent number: 4610615
Abstract: An apparatus for the production of granules from flowable media comprises a cylindrical vessel rotatable about a horizontal axle and being provided with circumferentially spaced orifices through which the medium emerges in the form of droplets. The drops fall onto a cooling conveyor in order to solidify thereon. A collector wall is situated within the vessel and oriented obliquely relative to the horizontal. The medium is dropped onto the collector plate and flows downwardly onto the internal surface of the vessel. The medium falls onto the internal surface ahead of a baffle which presses against the internal surface.

  • Patent number: 4603911
Abstract: A cutter pick assembly comprises a point attack cutter pick rotatably mounted in a pick box through a sleeve in a bore. In front of the sleeve a hardened metal thrust and seal ring is mounted surrounding the forward end of the pick shank. The ring has a front face which engages in a recess in a shoulder of the pick and the ring both supports the pick against rearwardly directed cutting forces and provides a sufficiently close fit with the pick and the pick box bore to limit passage into the bore of foreign matter that may interfere with rotation of the pick in use. The thrust ring is retained axially in the bore by a spring clip and a further spring clip holds the pick axially in the sleeve, the latter being trapped in the bore by the thrust ring.

  • Patent number: 4578021
Abstract: An apparatus produces granules from two-phase mixtures wherein an initial substance is enriched with crystal nuclei in a temperature controlled precrystallizer and the resultant precrystallized melt is fully crystallized on a cooling surface. A droplet former is disposed over the cooling surface and includes inner and outer telescoping tubes. The inner tube communicates downstream with the precrystallizer and has a plurality of outlet orifices for conducting the precrystallized melt outwardly therethrough. The outer and inner tubes are arranged for relative rotation. The outer tube has a plurality of discharge orifices which are intermittently alignable with the outlet apertures in response to relative rotation between the tubes for discharging drops of precrystallized mass onto the cooling surface.

  • Patent number: 4559000
Abstract: An apparatus forms granulates from a flowable viscous mass. The mass is delivered to a tubular body and flows downwardly from a lower slit thereof in the form of drops. An endlessly revolving belt travels across the slit in tight engagement therewith. The belt has orifices therein which intermittently open the slit to admit the passage of the drops. The drops fall onto a conveyor which travels below the belt in the same direction and at the same speed as the belt.

  • Patent number: 4557609
Abstract: A sealed rotary drill bit comprising at least one rotatably carried roller cutter (13) and provided with a seal between the cutter and a mounting head (22) for preventing lubricating medium from being discharged from the bearing (14, 15, 16, 17, 18) and impurities from entering the bearing. For purposes of decreasing the friction the seal (22) is provided with a low friction material on a portion of the seal which engages the head to promote rotation between the seal and the head. The portion of the seal which engages the roller cutter has a material of higher frictional coefficient to resist relative rotation between the seal and the roller cutter (25).

  • Patent number: 4545107
Abstract: A tool magazine of a tool handling machine which carries several similar tools comprises a unit which can be removed from the tool machine. The tools are conducted between guide rails in a lengthwise shiftable manner. The lengthwise feed of the tools in the tool magazine takes place by means of a feed comb whose comb teeth are moved transversely into engagement between the individual tools. The feed comb carries out a driven feed movement in a lengthwise direction of the magazine. The tools are moved from the tool magazine by a tool gripping device and conducted to a tool fixture of the tool machine. Conversely, the expended tools are moved into the tool magazine by a tool gripping device.
