  • Patent number: 7613323
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining camera pose characterized by six degrees of freedom (e.g., for use in computer vision systems) is disclosed. In one embodiment an image captured by the camera is received, and at least two constraints on the potential pose are enforced in accordance with known relations of the image to the camera, such that the potential pose is constrained to two remaining degrees of freedom. At least one potential pose is then determined in accordance with the remaining two degrees of freedom.

  • Patent number: 7603401
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for performing blind source separation using convolutive signal decorrelation. For a first embodiment, the method accumulates a length of input signal (mixed signal) that comprises a plurality of independent signals from independent signal sources. The invention then divides the length of input signal into a plurality of T-length periods (windows) and performs a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) on the signal within each T-length period. Thereafter, estimated cross-correlation values are computed using a plurality of the averaged DFT values. A total number of K cross-correlation values are computed, where each of the K values is averaged over N of the T-length periods. Using the cross-correlation values, a gradient descent process computes the coefficients of a FIR filter that will effectively separate the source signals within the input signal. A second embodiment of the invention is directed to on-line processing of the input signal—i.e.

  • Patent number: 7519197
Abstract: A system and method for identifying objects, particularly vehicles, between two non-overlapping cameras. More specifically, the method and system determines whether a vehicle depicted in an image captured by a first camera is the same vehicle or a different vehicle than a vehicle depicted in an image captured by a second camera. This intra-camera analysis determines whether the vehicle viewed by the first camera is the same as the vehicle viewed by the second camera, without directly matching the two vehicle images, thus eliminating the problems and inaccuracies caused by disparate environmental conditions acting on the two cameras, such as dramatic appearance and aspect changes.
