  • Patent number: 6234302
Abstract: A transfer system has at least one transfer device which is driven by several mutually independent drives in the direction of at least a closing/opening axis. In the event of a failure of a drive, an immediate stoppage of parts of the transfer device is prevented by coupling the drives with one another by a coupling device. This coupling device has an operating range of a low torque transmission which is normally taken up and is left only if one of the drives no longer supplies a sufficient driving power.

  • Patent number: 6185979
Abstract: A transfer system is provided for press facilities with several successive press stations. The transfer system has divided cross traverses which, with respect to the transport direction, can be moved from the front and the rear into the tool. Each tool includes two respectively transversely divided traverses. For receiving and depositing the workpieces, the cross traverses are adjusted toward and away from one another. In addition, when the tool is closed, the cross traverse are laterally moved past the tool. As required, they may be changed for this purpose into an overtaking position, which can be carried out, for example, by a swivel drive. The transfer system permits a shortening of the minimum time for which the tools must be open with respect to the transfer system and thus allows an increase of the stroke number of the press.

  • Patent number: 6176365
Abstract: A control device for electric direct drives of a transfer system contains at least one monitoring device which, in the case of the malfunctioning of a direct drive, switches the control device into an emergency operating mode. In the emergency operating mode, the control device disconnects the linear drive affected by the malfunction from power and controls the remaining direct drives preferably at full power or at a slightly higher power. Thereby, a freedom from collision is established between the forming tool and the transfer device, after which the press is preferably stopped.

  • Patent number: 6126582
Abstract: A multistation press has a transfer device with cross traverses. The transfer device is set up for an automatic tooling change by providing that the cross traverses or the tooling held thereon are to be deposited on passive tooling receiving devices on sliding tables. This deposition takes place without the aid of transfer units in that a control device activates a height adjusting device independently of the other driving devices for the workpiece transfer such that the cross traverses are lowered to the passive tooling receiving devices.

  • Patent number: 6109885
Abstract: A vacuum system, particularly for vacuum grippers, has a fluid entrainment pump for generating the vacuum which, when the required vacuum is built up, is supplied with a throttled compressed-air flow. For the throttling of the compressed-air flow, a controlled throttle device is used which, as a function of the detected vacuum value, throttles the compressed-air flow to the fluid entrainment pump when the desired vacuum value has been reached or exceeded.

  • Patent number: 6089073
Abstract: A drawing apparatus in a press or similar forming system has a blank holder which can be acted upon by one or optionally several pressure cylinders. Blocking devices are provided which act, in one case, directly upon a pressure cheek supporting the blank holder and, in another case, indirectly upon the pressure cheek by way of an articulated train or transmission train. Thereby, an unintentional lifting or lowering of the blank holder is prevented when the press is inoperative.

  • Patent number: 6073551
Abstract: A press has a transfer direction along which workpieces are transferred through machining stations by gripper rails. Two carriages are provided per gripper rail which can be moved transversely to the transfer direction toward and away from one another. Two parallel control arms are rotatably disposed on one carriage which, on the other end, are rotatably disposed on a support part. On the other carriage, a link is rotatably disposed which, on the other end, is applied at half length to a parallel control arm. The support part can be lifted vertically by the movement of the carriages.

  • Patent number: 6039310
Abstract: A method serves to actively perform vibration damping of driven elements of workpiece transport devices in and on shaping machines, especially presses and punches. A measured state value of the driven element or one reconstructed by an observer is determined. The state value is then entered into a damping regulator which affects the drive of the driven elements. A damping regulating circuit is provided in addition to a position regulating circuit.

  • Patent number: 5992209
Abstract: A transfer press has sliding tables each assigned to one or several press stations and which, for the mold change, can be moved preferably laterally out of the transfer press. The sliding tables (or the molds disposed thereon) have receiving devices for the tooling which includes at least workpiece-specific holding devices of a transfer system which is used for transporting parts from press station to press station. For moving the sliding tables out of the transfer press, the receiving devices are positioned in separate depositing areas preferably provided laterally next to the molds. When the receiving devices are changed from their operative position taken up in the transfer system into the deposited position, the holding devices are swivelled by the receiving device which has a swivellable construction itself or a separate transfer device.

  • Patent number: 5993143
Abstract: A transfer device for press systems has cross traverses with at least one suction unit swivellably held thereon. The suction unit has an electric drive for coordinating the swivel movement with the transfer curve (horizontal and vertical movement) to be travelled. As may be required, two or more suction units can be independently swivellable on a cross traverse. A retrofitting and retooling of existing cross traverses can be carried out by the replacement of non-swivellable suction units used so far by swivellable suction units. Other changes on the mechanical structure of the transfer device are not required.

  • Patent number: 5992207
Abstract: In a large-part transfer press, several forming stations are arranged below a common slide in order to minimize cost. The bedplate construction has two longitudinal or basic supports. On each support, one bedplate per forming station is transversely placed and fastened as required. Driving of the slide takes place by two mutually independent head pieces which, depending on the number of stations, are arranged side-by-side at a distance. Each of the head pieces spans only one forming station.

  • Patent number: 5992208
Abstract: A press arrangement has a sliding tables which carry molds and are provided in the press stations. Holding systems on the sliding tables or on the molds are used for receiving holders which are arranged on the intermediate station arranged between the press stations. The holders carry templates for the intermediate deposition of workpieces. In addition, the holders have receiving devices for receiving workpiece-specific parts of the transfer system, particularly suction frames. During the mold exchange, the intermediate depositing station is operated such that it receives the suction frames by way of the associated holders. Thereafter, the holders are deposited on the holding systems.
