The carbonaceous material adsorbs lithium polysulfides (LiPS) in use to inhibit a shuttling reaction between the anode and the cathode, caused by the dissolution of lithium polysulfides in the electrolyte, and increases recyclability of the lithium polysulfides, resulting in improvement of life characteristics and rate characteristics of the secondary battery.

    Abstract: A plantar surface pressure offloading system includes an insole capable of coupling with a shoe and interfacing with a foot. A number of compressible bladders and pressure sensors are coupled to the insole. Each bladder has an adjustable compressibility, and each pressure sensor is configured to measure a pressure exerted on a respective portion of the foot. A controller of the system can perform, for each compressible bladder, a compressibility adjustment process including (i) receiving, from a respective pressure sensor associated with a respective bladder, a signal indicative of a pressure exerted on a respective portion of the foot, (ii) determining, based on the signal, that the pressure exerted on the respective portion of the foot exceeds a threshold pressure, and (iii) responsive to the determination, adjusting the compressibility of the respective bladder, thereby offloading pressure from the respective portion of the foot to a different portion of the foot.

    Abstract: The heat index thermostat is an electronic, programmable thermostat having a microcontroller or microprocessor programmed to regulate the temperature of an enclosed space, such as a room or building. The thermostat has a user interface that permits the user to select a mode of operation and to enter a set temperature, and input terminals for receiving signals from relative humidity, indoor temperature, and other sensors. In a heat index mode of operation, the temperature is regulated by reference to a lookup table based on a heat index equation. The microcontroller uses the table inversely by using the set temperature as the heat index temperature, looking up the room temperature that would result in that heat index temperature given the measured relative humidity in the room. The thermostat then turns the cooling/heating unit on or off until the measured room temperature is equal to the temperature determined from the lookup table.
