  • Patent number: 9300347
Abstract: Systems and methods of providing a mobile device cover are described. In some embodiments, the mobile device cover may include, for example, an acoustic sensor, a processor, and lighting devices. The processor can be operatively coupled to the acoustic sensor and the lighting devices. The acoustic sensor can be configured to receive sound generated by the mobile phone and to convert the sound into an acoustic signal. The processor can be configured to receive the acoustic signal and to determine whether the acoustic signal is similar to one of a plurality of acoustic signals previously stored on the mobile phone cover. Each of the previously stored acoustic signals can be indicative of, for example, a particular caller, a particular message sender, or a particular alert. Based on the acoustic signal determination, the processor is configured to cause lighting of the one or more lighting devices corresponding to the indicated caller, indicated message sender, or indicated alert.

  • Patent number: 8947505
Abstract: In one aspect of the teachings herein, a 3D imaging apparatus uses a “texture tool” or facilitates the use of such a tool by an operator, to add artificial texture to a scene being imaged, for 3D imaging of surfaces or background regions in the scene that otherwise lack sufficient texture for determining sufficiently dense 3D range data. In at least one embodiment, the 3D imaging apparatus provides for iterative or interactive imaging, such as by dynamically indicating that one or more regions of the scene require artificial texturing via the texture tool for accurate 3D imaging, and then indicating whether or not the addition of artificial texture cured the texture deficiency and/or whether any other regions within the image require additional texture.

  • Patent number: 8387999
Abstract: A vehicular torsion bar suspension device, which comprises a front torsion bar spring and a rear torsion bar spring respectively installed at front and rear suspensions of the vehicle. The opposite ends of the front and rear torsion bar springs on the same side are connected mutually by a connection mechanism, and are connected with a vehicle frame through a positioning device. The connection mechanism is mounted between the front and rear torsion bar springs on the same side, so that a linkage relationship is established between the front and rear torsion bar springs. The device improves the vibration situation of the vehicle when driving the vehicle on an uneven ground, and prevents the vehicle frame and vehicle body skeleton from suffering torsional force. As a result, the usage life of the vehicle is prolonged.

  • Patent number: 8300284
Abstract: According to a method and apparatus taught herein, an optical sensor uses pattern recognition in its optical detection processing to “see” detection patterns that correspond to predefined configuration settings. In one embodiment, for example, an optical sensing system selects an operational configuration by detecting a pattern embodied in received light data and comparing the detected pattern to one or more internally stored patterns. Each stored pattern represents a different operational configuration of the optical sensing system. If the detected pattern matches one of the stored patterns, the optical sensing system adopts the operational configuration corresponding to the matched stored pattern. Further, in one or more embodiments, the optical sensing system enters a configuration mode by an external stimulus, e.g., responsive to a configuration mode input, and the aforementioned pattern detection-based configuration selection is enabled only while in the configuration mode.
