    Abstract: The systems and methods described herein allow for the application of a bias voltage to one or more transducers implemented within a medical ultrasound imaging system. Bias circuitry is placed within an imaging device and used to apply a DC bias to one or more transducers requiring a DC bias to operate. The one or more transducers can be fabricated in a semiconductor manufacturing process and integrated with the bias circuitry on a common semiconductor substrate. Also provided is a method for operating the one or more transducers and bias circuitry using a communication channel having two signal lines.

An image processing system is provided having a processor configured to apply a multi-stage classifier to the image data set to identify a distinctive region. The first component classifier can have a sensitivity level configured to identify one or more target regions in the image data set and the second component classifier can have a specificity level configured to confirm the presence of the distinctive region in any identified target regions. Also provided is a classification array having multiple multi-stage classifiers for identification and confirmation of more than one distinctive region or for the application of different classification configurations to the image data set to identify a specific distinctive region.

    Abstract: The present invention provides systems and methods for reducing noise in an imaging catheter system. In an embodiment, a catheter comprises an imaging transducer and a transmission line within the catheter to transmit signals to and from the transducer. To reduce noise caused by exposure of the transmission line to external interference, a choke balun is coupled to the transmission line. In another embodiment, the signal from a rotating imaging transducer of the catheter is coupled to a motor drive unit by a slip ring assembly. The transducer signal is passed through first and second transformers placed on opposite sides of the slip ring assembly to reduce noise from the slip ring assembly. In another embodiment, the catheter includes a position sensor to track the position of the catheter. The position sensor is coupled to a second choke balun to further reduce noise.

    Abstract: An anatomically correct endoluminal prosthesis is provided for placement in a lumen or vessel of a body. In a preferred embodiment, the prosthesis is a stent having at least one segment of curvature located along the body of the stent. Preferably, the stent has orientation markers and lines to allow for in vivo identification and orientation by conventional imaging formats. The stent may have multiple segments of curvature in succession or overlapping and may have segments of curvature lying in different planes of curvature.
