  • Patent number: 4141287
Abstract: A reconstituted pimiento strip useful for stuffing olives using automatic equipment is prepared by employing a forming apparatus comprising a pair of opposed, continuous belts, the lower belt being recessed on its mating surface to define a trough into which a mixture of pimiento and binder is introduced. The orientation of the belts relative the horizontal is such that both belts dip into a calcium chloride setting bath at a point intermediate their ends. The apparatus further includes discharge nozzle means to introduce the pimiento/binder mix onto the recessed area of the lower belt, the leading nip between the upper and lower belts being downstream of said nozzle means.

  • Patent number: 4137338
Abstract: This invention resides in the discovery of a fluent food emulsifier concentrate comprising a normally liquid partial glycerol ester food emulsifier vehicle in which is stably dispersed ethoxylated fatty acid esters and solid phase fine crystalline food emulsifier components, said concentrate being mechanically dispersible into a comestible mixture for the emulsification thereof. The present invention is particularly suitable for the preparation of a stable fluid shortening containing the emulsifier concentrate and a liquid edible oil suitable for bread and dough mixtures providing both dough conditioning and anti-staling properties. In an example of the present invention, the fluid concentrate comprises a fluent monoglyceride such as glycerol monooleate admixed with ethoxylated mono- and diglyceride and a solid phase ester emulsifier such as a succinylated mono- and diglyceride, or the alkali or alkaline earth metal salt of an acyl lactylate.

  • Patent number: 4134800
Abstract: An improved process for producing electrolytic iron is primarily based on maintaining the electrolytic bath at a low concentration of ferrous sulfate ions in combination with a certain concentration of NH.sub.3 and pH in the electrolytic bath. The electrolytic iron chips produced in accordance with this process are much more friable. A substantial improvement is obtained in an efficient grinding of the chips to -100 mesh (Tyler Screen) and smaller.

  • Patent number: 4133916
Abstract: Process for coating a substrate with a heat-curable coating composition comprising a compound having labile hydrogenation groups, a compound having unsaturated carbon-carbon or epoxy groups, and a carbamothioate curing agent. Heat-curing of the coated substrate above the critical temperature initiates formation of mercaptan and isocyanate curing units from the carbamothioate curing agent which curing units react with said compounds to cure the coating. In preferred embodiments the coating composition is dispersed in water, a fugative organic solvent, or is a powder coating.

  • Patent number: 4131374
Abstract: A ribbon feed mechanism for typewriters operable to incrementally feed a ribbon with a dual segment continuous motion ribbon feed. The ribbon is advanced an initial segment by a power actuated linkage and advanced a final segment by a spring urged arm acting on a multi-toothed cam. The initial segment feed occurs when a bellcrank is pivoted, and through a linkage, urges a ribbon metering shaft to rotate which, in turn, feeds the ribbon. Simultaneously, a spring biased cam follower is gradually displaced by the multi-toothed cam which is supported on the metering shaft. The final segment feed occurs as the spring biased cam follower is rapidly displaced down a cam surface of a tooth on the multi-toothed cam.

  • Patent number: 4129488
Abstract: Powder paint coatings of this invention are particularly suitable for ultraviolet curing and comprise specific spatial arrangements of ethylenically unsaturated polymers. The polymers contain pendant double bond unsaturation in combination with an epoxy adduct spaced on the polymer chain from a polyester adduct. The powder paint is free of cold flow and can be applied electrostatically or physically to metal substrates, moderately heated to obtain desired flow out, and then cross-linked or cured by ultraviolet irradiation.
