  • Patent number: 6630274
Abstract: The color filter of the present invention comprises ink films colored by ink drops 140 inside openings 111 enclosed by banks 112 demarcated and formed on a substrate 110. The banks 112 have a laminar structure comprising a metal film 120 and a photosensitive organic thin film 130 from the substrate 110 side. The inks should contain a solvent having a high boiling point. The bank layer may also be configured so that the peripheral edges of the bottom surface thereof are positioned inside from the peripheral edges of the light blocking layers, so that the light blocking layers have exposed surfaces on the upper surface thereof where the bank layer is not superimposed. Thus color filters can be provided which exhibit outstanding contrast without coloring irregularities.

  • Patent number: 6629790
Abstract: When a communications terminal has stopped operating because it is off-line, data received from a host is efficiently stored to a receive buffer so that receive buffer full states cannot easily occur. A data interpreter interprets the receive buffer content in the input order. An action buffer stores interpreted commands. A command execution controller executes commands in the action buffer in first-in first-out order. The data interpreter continues interpreting the received data even when operation of the command execution controller is stopped, and kills without storing to the action buffer any real-time commands detected by the data interpreter.

  • Patent number: 6630704
Abstract: The invention reduces capacitor coupling between data read bit lines and data write bit lines to thereby prevent error detection of data. A first pair of bit lines BM and {overscore (BM)} that read data from a specified one of memory cells in a memory cell column and a second pair of bit lines BS and {overscore (BS)} that write data in another specified one of the memory cells in the memory cell column are formed in different layers through an interlayer dielectric film. As viewed in a plan view, the space between the first pair of bit lines BM and {overscore (BM)} is wider than the second pair of bit lines BS and {overscore (BS)}, and the second pair of bit lines BS and {overscore (BS)} are disposed between the first pair of bit lines BM and {overscore (BM)}. A first wiring layer that is set a ground potential is disposed in the same layer as the first pair of bit lines BM and {overscore (BM)} and between the first pair of bit lines BM and {overscore (BM)}.

  • Patent number: 6630968
Abstract: A TN liquid crystal 140 is used as a liquid crystal panel, and a polarizer 130 is provided above the TN liquid crystal 140 while a polarizer 135, a light scattering layer 150 and a polarized light splitter 160 are provided in this order under the TN liquid crystal 140. Furthermore, under the polarized light splitter 160, there is provided a light guide 190 for introducing light of a light source 191 from under the polarized light splitter 160 and a reflecting plate 200. The polarized light splitter 160 is a reflecting polarizer which can accomplish the effective utilization of light so that extremely bright reflective and transmissive displays are obtainable. Additionally, since a light diffusing layer 150 is provided, even if the distance from the TN liquid crystal 140 to the reflecting plate 200 is prolonged, in the reflective display, no double image nor display bleeding occurs.

  • Publication number: 20030184705
Abstract: The electro-optical apparatus of the invention has a pair of substrates and an electro-optical material held between these substrates. The TFT array substrate may be formed into a concave shape in non-aperture areas containing the data line, the scanning line, the capacitor line and the TFT. Further, the areas opposite to the connecting lines in the sealed area may be formed into a concave shape. In the electro-optical apparatus having such a configuration, it is possible to reduce steps resulting from the presence of various wiring lines and elements in the image display area and the sealed area, by the use of a relatively simple configuration.

  • Publication number: 20030186613
Abstract: To provide a liquid material ejecting method and a liquid material ejecting apparatus, etc., in which uniform electro-optic characteristics, etc. are obtained in the planar direction. In the liquid material ejecting method and the liquid material ejecting apparatus, etc., a plurality of liquid materials are successively ejected toward a substrate from corresponding nozzle rows while relatively scanning a droplet ejection head or the substrate, and respective positions of ejection start and/or end points for the plurality of liquid materials are set different from each other. End portions of areas of the substrate, in which the plurality of liquid materials are applied, are thereby not or less overlapped with each other. Accordingly, with the liquid material ejecting method, variations in amount of the applied liquid materials in the planar direction can be reduced.

Abstract: To provide a process for coding the moving picture with higher speed and enhanced efficiency. The present invention provides a moving picture coding method for coding a moving picture of processing object through a predetermined process including a motion estimating process, determining whether or not the predetermined process (e.g., DCT process and quantization process) for a block of processing object can be omitted on the basis of the information regarding a difference between the block and a reference block of a frame to be referenced in coding (i.e., a frame to be referenced in making the motion vector detection), and a quantization parameter for use in a quantization process of the moving picture, performing the predetermined process if it is determined that the predetermined process can not be omitted, and omitting the predetermined process if it is determined that the predetermined process can be omitted and making a set defined value the result of the predetermined process for the block.

  • Publication number: 20030186505
Abstract: The manufacturing method of the invention performs over-etching to remove an upper portion of a conductive layer in a logic circuit area of a semiconductor device, simultaneously with etching out a stopper layer. The method subsequently patterns the conductive layer to form gate electrodes in the logic circuit area. The height of the gate electrodes is lowered, because of the removed upper portion of the conductive layer. In a subsequent process of polishing an insulating layer, even when the polishing rate of the insulating layer is not constant but varied and the insulating layer in the logic circuit area is polished relatively faster than the insulating layer in a memory area, this arrangement of the invention effectively prevents exposure of the gate electrodes in the logic circuit area, prior to exposure of stopper layers in the memory area.
