  • Patent number: 9881221
Abstract: Methods and systems for continuously monitoring the gaze direction of a driver of a vehicle over time. Video is received, which is captured by a camera associated with, for example, a mobile device within a vehicle, the camera and/or mobile device mounted facing the driver of the vehicle. Frames can then be extracted from the video. A facial region can then be detected, which corresponds to the face of the driver within the extracted frames. Features descriptors can then be computed from the facial region. A gaze classifier derived from the vehicle, the driver, and the camera can then be applied, wherein the gaze classifier receives the feature descriptors as inputs and outputs at least one label corresponding to one or more predefined finite number of gaze classes to identify the gaze direction of the driver of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9879495
Abstract: A friction reduction apparatus (FRA) positioned onto a pipe string comprises a tubular housing, upper and lower mandrels having variously configured fluid flow passages and ports, a valve and a shifter. Fluid travelling through the apparatus causes the valve and shifter to reciprocate, repeatedly opening and closing flow passages. Each of these cycles creates a pulse in the fluid column creating vibrations that reduce friction in the pipe string. The FRA can be used in conjunction with a ball or dart activated tool positioned downhole from the FRA.

  • Patent number: 9881285
Abstract: A method and system for automated settlement and on-line debiting of a financial transaction, such as an emergency-cash transaction, is provided. A bank customer enters a foreign-branch bank and indicates a need for emergency cash. The customer is given a telephone by which the customer communicates with an interactive-voice response system in the customer's language. The system bridges the customer with the customer's home bank, which approves the requested emergency cash. A network in communication with the voice response system and with the issuer automatically initiates an on-line debiting of an account of the customer. • Publication number: 20180023352
Abstract: Tubing encapsulated cable consists of one or more electrical conductors and possibly one or more fiber optic cables sheathed in a corrosion resistant metallic alloy. However, pumping during the installation of tubing encapsulated cable is required to overcome the capstan effect of the tubing encapsulate cable inside the coil tubing as the tubing encapsulated cable travels through the coiled up wraps of coil tubing. In an embodiment of the invention the tubing encapsulated cable consists of one or more electrical conductors and possibly one or more fiber optic cables sheathed in a fiber reinforced composite sheath. Because there is little drag between the fiber encapsulated cable and the coil tubing, conventional pumping operations used to install braided wireline into coil tubing may not be required when installing fiber encapsulated cable into coil tubing.
