  • Patent number: 9771762
Abstract: A downhole separation apparatus for releasing a pipe string from a bottom hole assembly is disclosed. The apparatus has a tubular collet body, a tubular bottom sub, and a piston collet positioned within the collet body. The collet piston has a plurality of collet fingers threadedly engaging an internal profile of the bottom sub. Separation is accomplished by pumping a circulation ball through the pipe string until it lands on a ball seat inside the collet piston. Increasing fluid pressure then shifts the piston collet axially downward within the collet body thereby causing the collet fingers to collapse to disengage the bottom hole assembly from the pipe string.

  • Patent number: 9772919
Abstract: An electronic control unit (ECU) is tested by an automated D-bus testing tool in a first device. The test tool establishes one or more secure shells between the first device and the ECU. The tool reads test input data from an Excel input file. The ECU comprises a software stack including a test client, a Bluetooth middle layer and a hardware abstraction layer, that communicate internally relative to the ECU, via a D-bus. The test tool sends function calls and parameters via the secure shells to the ECU to test execution of Bluetooth functions and/or Bluetooth profiles. The function calls enable simulation of a human machine interface by the test client. The tool monitors API call returns and logs D-bus communications via the one or more secure shells. The test tool outputs test verdict information and/or D-bus communication logs as text in an Excel file.

  • Patent number: 9773286
Abstract: A system for providing location-based services to a mobile device regularly determines the location of the mobile device. Using the location of the device, the system queries a database of virtual geographic regions to determine if the location of the mobile device falls within one or more of the virtual geographic regions. The virtual geographic regions correspond to service entities that have purchased, rented, leased, or otherwise acquired the virtual geographic regions. The virtual geographic regions cover a certain area of a map. If the mobile device is within a virtual geographic region, the system notifies the mobile device. A location-based services application installed on the mobile device launches an applet for the entity that acquired the virtual geographic region within which the mobile device is located.

  • Patent number: 9775029
Abstract: Techniques for enhancing the security of a communication device may include providing an application agent that executes in a trusted execution environment of the communication device, and a transaction application that executes in a normal application execution environment of the communication device. The application agent may receive, from the application, a limited-use key (LUK) generated by a remote computer, and store the LUK in a secure storage of the trusted execution environment. When the application agent receives a request to conduct a transaction from the application executing in the normal execution environment, the application agent may generate a transaction cryptogram using the LUK, and provides the transaction cryptogram to an access device.

  • Patent number: 9774577
Abstract: Disclosed are devices, systems, and methods for securing data using attribute based data access. The data may correspond to a sensory environment, and the data is secured at the device. The device secures the data by segmenting the data into number of segments and defining an access policy, further submitting the access policy to a PKG of system for generating Access Tree having attributes at different level for accessing the data. These Access Trees are securely stored on the device using IBE mechanism. Further, the data after being secured, is uploaded to a system for analysis. At the system, an access request may be received for accessing the data. The access request further includes a request attribute, whereby the system verifies if the attribute satisfies the Access Policy. If the verification is positive, an access may be provided to the data accessor for accessing the data.

  • Patent number: 9772368
Abstract: A technique detects an abnormal signal in a compound sampled signal recorded in the time domain. The technique involves dividing the sampled signal recorded in the time domain into sample segments; transforming each of the sample segments from the time domain into the frequency domain to determine transformed segments, each transformed segment having frequency points, each frequency point having an amplitude associated with a certain frequency; for a frequency point in a given transformed segment, determining a ratio by dividing the amplitude of the frequency point by a value indicative of an average of the amplitudes of the frequency points at the same frequency across transformed segments; repeating the determination of a ratio for frequency points in each transformed segment to determine ratios for each transformed segment; repeating the determination of ratios for transformed segments; and using the ratios to detect the abnormal signal in the compound sampled signal.
