Abstract: In various embodiments, a system, method, and computer readable medium (collectively, the “System”) for authenticating a mobile device configured to initiate payments is provided. The System may be configured to perform operations and/or steps comprising receiving, by the processor and in a secure environment, a secret element. The secret element may be transmitted to the processor (e.g., the issuer system) via a payment terminal. The System may further comprise comparing, by the processor and in the secured environment, the secret element to an issuer element. The issuer element may be linked with a flag that is associated with the transaction account. Moreover, the issuer element may be a data module that corresponds to be is not equal to the secret element. The System may also comprise authorizing, by the processor, a transaction initiated by the mobile device in response to the comparing being a satisfactory comparison.

Abstract: Downhole fluid sensing device is disclosed for determining heat capacity of a formation fluid produced by a sampled subterranean well, the sensor package having an annulus shaped, elongate body defining a cylindrical fluid sampling space, the sensor package and the sampling space having a common longitudinal center axis. The elongate sensor package body has a fluid entrance port that provides well fluid ingress into the fluid sampling space and a fluid exit port that provides well fluid egress out of the fluid sampling space. A heat source is coupled to the elongate sensor package body and located along a portion of the fluid path, and the heat source inputs heat into sampled well fluid. Finally, temperature sensing devices (located between the fluid entrance port and fluid exit port measure heat conducted to the sampled well fluid, wherein each of the temperature sensing devices is radially spaced from the heat source.

  • Patent number: 9436967
Abstract: A system for providing location-based services to a mobile device regularly determines the location of the mobile device. Using the location of the device, the system queries a database of virtual geographic regions to determine if the location of the mobile device falls within one or more of the virtual geographic regions. The virtual geographic regions correspond to service entities that have purchased, rented, leased, or otherwise acquired the virtual geographic regions. The virtual geographic regions cover a certain area of a map. If the mobile device is within a virtual geographic region, the system notifies the mobile device. A location-based services application installed on the mobile device launches an applet for the entity that acquired the virtual geographic region within which the mobile device is located.

  • Patent number: 9438444
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a capacity exchange whereby capacity from different content delivery networks (CDNs) can be bought, sold, and traded. The capacity exchange is part of an “Open CDN” platform. The Open CDN platform federates the independent operation of CDNs and other operators of and service providers to distributed platforms participating in the Open CDN platform so that each participant can (1) dynamically scale its capacity without incurring additional infrastructure costs, (2) expand its service into previously untapped geographic regions without physically establishing points of presence (POPs) at those geographic regions, and (3) reduce sunk costs associated with unused capacity of already deployed infrastructure by selling that unused capacity to other participants that are in need of additional capacity.

  • Patent number: 9435000
Abstract: Disclosed are compositions and methods related to the isolation and identification of the primate T-lymphotropic viruses, HTLV-3 and HTLV-4. The diversity of HTLVs was investigated among central Africans reporting contact with NHP blood and body fluids through hunting, butchering, and keeping primate pets. Herein it is shown that this population is infected with a variety of HTLVs, including two retroviruses; HTLV-4 is the first member of a novel phylogenetic lineage that is distinct from all known HTLVs and STLVs; HTLV-3 falls within the genetic diversity of STLV-3, a group that has not previously been seen in humans. The present disclosure also relates to vectors and vaccines for use in humans against infection and disease. The disclosure further relates to a variety of bioassays and kits for the detection and diagnosis of infection with and diseases caused by HTLV-3 and HTLV-4 and related viruses.
