  • Patent number: 9366095
Abstract: A displacement assistance device can include at least two flow paths in fluid communication with a flow passage, and a blocking member that blocks flow through each flow path in response to the flow through that flow path. A method of assisting displacement of a tubular string can include installing the tubular string, then discharging a blocking member into the tubular string, and flowing a fluid through a flow passage extending longitudinally through a displacement assistance device connected in the tubular string, thereby causing the member to repeatedly block flow through at least two flow paths in succession. A system can include a displacement assistance device connected in a tubular string, the device including at least two flow paths in communication with a flow passage extending through the tubular string, and a blocking member that alternately blocks flow through the flow paths in response to flow through the flow passage.

  • Patent number: 9369481
Abstract: An incident triage engine performs incident triage in a system by prioritizing responses to incidents within the system. One prioritization method may include receiving attributes of incidents and assets in the system, generating cumulative loss forecasts for the incidents, and prioritizing the responses to the incidents based on the cumulative loss forecasts for the incidents. Another prioritization method may include determining different arrangements of incidents within a response queue, calculating cumulative queue loss forecasts for the different arrangements of incidents within the response queue, and arranging the incidents in the response queue based on the arrangement of incidents that minimizes the total loss to the system over the resolution of all of the incidents present in the response queue.

  • Patent number: 9366121
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to modeling the flow of fracturing fluid in a subterranean formation. Fluid flow within the reservoir media in a subterranean formation is modeled by a reservoir block flow model. Fluid flow within a fracture network in the reservoir is modeled by a fracture network flow model. Fluid flow between the fracture network and the reservoir media is modeled by an interface flow model. Output data are generated based on coupling the fracture network flow model, the reservoir block flow model, and the interface flow model. The output data represent characteristics of fracturing fluid leak-off from the fracture network into the reservoir media.

Abstract: The present subject matter relates a testing system for an application. The system includes a test data generation module to generate test data for a program code. The test data generation module in turn includes a relational expression creation module that determines a relational expression corresponding to a set of parameters of the program code based on a rule indicating a format of a valid test data for the parameters. A boundary recognition module identifies a set of boundary values of the parameters based on the relational expression. Further, a solver module then generates valid test data and invalid test data for the parameters based on the boundary values.

  • Patent number: 9369452
Abstract: A system and method whereby an unregistered, anonymous user at an organization's website makes a submission/inquiry and is able to access a secure response containing private information without pre-registering or establishing an account with the organization. A response to the user is made via an unsecured e-mail notification that provides the user with an HTTPS link to an authentication page. The user then enters his/her user identification, for example, the user email address and password which was associated with the original submission/inquiry. Once the email address and password is authenticated, the secure response message is displayed on the user's web browser in SSL. Each response is provided on a per-submission basis.

  • Publication number: 20160160111
Abstract: Geothermal wells frequently form deposits of geothermal scale that can detrimentally affect subterranean operations. These deposits can be very difficult to remove from a surface. Conventional procedures for addressing geothermal scale often provide inadequate scale removal, in addition to creating a number of other issues. Methods for removing geothermal scale from a wellbore can comprise: introducing a descaling agent comprising an N-(phosphonoalkyl)iminodiacetic acid or any salt thereof into a wellbore of a geothermal well having geothermal scale present therein; contacting the geothermal scale with the descaling agent; and removing at least a portion of the geothermal scale from the geothermal well using the descaling agent.

  • Publication number: 20160163046
Abstract: A system and method for quantification of Escherichia Coli bacteria in water is disclosed. In an embodiment, a region of interest (ROI) is obtained from an image of the water. For example, the ROI includes a plurality of pixels in the image of water contaminated with Escherichia Coli bacteria. Further, a plurality of red pixels are identified from the ROI based on a value of the plurality of pixels in the ROI and a threshold value. Furthermore, total redness of the plurality of red pixels in the ROI is calculated based on intensity of plurality of red pixels. In addition, a redness factor indicative of a degree of redness of the ROI is computed based on the calculated total redness. Quantification of the Escherichia Coli bacteria is then estimated based on the computed redness factor.
