  • Patent number: 9549322
Abstract: A method and system are provided for authenticating a communication device. The method conducted at a remote server includes the steps of: receiving, from a communication device via a first communication channel, a fingerprint identifying the communication device and a value of a parameter of the communication device specific to the communication device and variable over time; determining whether the value is within a predicted range; and if the value is not within the predicted range or the predicted range has not been established, sending an additional authentication request via a second communication channel. The predicted range is learnt over a given number of interactions between the communication device and the remote server and an expected rate of change of the value.

  • Patent number: 9547100
Abstract: Multi-array laterolog tool systems and methods acquire a set of array measurements sufficient to provide laterolog tool measurements of differing array sizes. Such systems and method offer multiple depths of investigation while offering greater measurement stability in borehole environments having high resistivity contrasts. In at least some system embodiments, a wireline or LWD tool body has a center electrode positioned between multiple pairs of guard electrodes and a pair of return electrodes. The tool's electronics provide a current from the center electrode to the pair of return electrodes and currents from each pair of guard electrodes to the pair of return electrodes. Each of the currents may be distinguishable by frequency or distinguishable by some other means. This novel arrangement of currents provides a complete set of measurements that enables one tool to simultaneously emulate a whole range of laterolog tools.

  • Patent number: 9546314
Abstract: Methods and compositions are described for treating water- and hydrocarbon-producing subterranean formations with a relative permeability modifier at concentrations below those conventionally used in the art, while not substantially impacting the treatment fluid's performance. Treatment fluids described herein comprise a base fluid, a relative permeability modifier comprising a hydrophobically modified hydrophilic polymer, and a companion polymer interacting synergistically with the relative permeability modifier such that the treatment fluid is operable to reduce the water permeability or to increase an aqueous fluid injection pressure of at least a portion of a subterranean formation by more than the relative permeability modifier or the companion polymer acting alone at like concentration. The water permeability reduction and/or the aqueous fluid injection pressure increase can be more than additive.

  • Patent number: 9549425
Abstract: A system for allocating communications resources for telematics communications is provided. The system includes a service provider, a gateway, and a telematics device. The telematics device: initiates a telematics communication between the telematics device and the service provider via a network; determines whether a network resource allocation for the telematics communication is still required based upon user intent information; and sends a notification of a change in the network resource allocation via a secondary communication channel. The secondary communication channel can be one of a first link coupled to the gateway and a second link coupled to the telematics device.

  • Patent number: 9546533
Abstract: Systems and methods that utilize bremsstrahlung radiation may be used to facilitate the setting of a settable composition. For example, a method may include providing a settable composition in a portion of a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation, a portion of the subterranean formation, or both; conveying an electron accelerator tool along the wellbore proximal to the settable composition; producing an electron beam in the electron accelerator tool with a trajectory that impinges a converter material, thereby converting the electron beam to bremsstrahlung photons; and irradiating the settable composition with the bremsstrahlung photons.

  • Patent number: 9545480
Abstract: A method for assembling a syringe includes supporting a syringe barrel having a stopper being movably disposed therein. A distal end of a plunger rod is inserted into the compartment of the syringe barrel. An initial digital image is taken of the stopper within the syringe barrel. The distal end of the plunger rod is coupled to the stopper located within the syringe barrel so that the plunger rod is secured to the stopper. A plurality of further digital images of the stopper within the syringe barrel are taken during or after coupling the distal end of the plunger rod to the stopper. Information determined from each of the further digital images is compared to information determined from the initial digital image using a computer processor to determine if the stopper in each of the further digital images has moved relative to the syringe barrel.

  • Patent number: 9547768
Abstract: System(s) and method(s) to provide privacy measurement and privacy quantification of sensor data are disclosed. The sensor data is received from a sensor. The private content associated with the sensor data is used to calculate a privacy measuring factor by using entropy based information theoretic model. A compensation value with respect to distribution dissimilarity is determined. The compensation value compensates a statistical deviation in the privacy measuring factor. The compensation value and the privacy measuring factor are used to determine a privacy quantification factor. The privacy quantification factor is scaled with respect to a predefined finite scale to obtain at least one scaled privacy quantification factor to provide quantification of privacy of the sensor data.

  • Patent number: 9548501
Abstract: A supported catalyst is prepared by a process that includes establishing shell-removal conditions for a supported catalyst intermediate that includes capped nanoparticles of a catalyst material dispersed on a carbon support. The capped nanoparticles each include a platinum alloy core capped in an organic shell. The shell-removal conditions include an elevated temperature and an inert gas atmosphere that is substantially free of oxygen. The organic shell is removed from the platinum alloy core under the shell-removal conditions to limit thermal decomposition of the carbon support and thereby limit agglomeration of the catalyst material such that the supported catalyst includes an electrochemical surface area of at least 30 m2/gPt.
