  • Patent number: 8031057
Abstract: Systems, methods, beds, supports surfaces and machine readable medium for associating beds and support surface of a healthcare facility are disclosed. A surface association system for a healthcare facility may comprise a plurality of beds. The system may further comprise a computing device and a plurality of support surfaces to be placed upon beds of the plurality of beds. The computing device may associate a support surface of the plurality of support surfaces with a bed of the plurality of beds. The computing device may make the association based upon status data received from the plurality of beds and the plurality of support surfaces. The support surface and/or bed to be associated may initiate a surface association request. The computing device, in response to the surface association request, may request performance of one or more actions on the bed and/or support surface to be associated to identify the bed and/or support surface from the beds and support surfaces of the healthcare facility.

  • Patent number: 8032485
Abstract: The initial systems analysis of a new data source fully defines each data element and also designs, tests and encodes complete data integration instructions for each data element. A metadata cache stores the data element definition and data element integration instructions. The metadata cache enables a comprehensive view of data elements in an enterprise data architecture. When data is requested that includes data elements defined in a metadata cache, the metadata cache and associated software modules automatically generate database elements to fully integrate the requested data elements into existing databases.

  • Patent number: 8031119
Abstract: In a system for determining the angle of arrival of a target signal received by an array of antenna elements, a pair of receivers simultaneously obtain observations of a received target signal from multiple elements of an array of antenna elements; and a computer processes the simultaneously obtained samples of the target signal to determine a maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) of the angle of arrival ? of the target signal by using the following equation: ?MLE=argmax?Re(?*?). The value of ? is determined in accordance with whether the target signal is known or unknown. When the target signal is unknown, the computer also processes the simultaneously obtained samples of the target signal to estimate the bandwidth of the received target signal by using binary hypotheses and a generalized log likelihood ratio test (GLLRT) or by using multiple hypotheses and pair-wise generalized log likelihood ratio tests.
