Abstract: A sensor, sensor disk, sensor measurement correction system, and method used in measuring a parameter in the refining zone. The sensor includes a spacer that spaces its sensing element from the disk. In one preferred embodiment, the spacer is made of an insulating material that insulates the sensing element from the thermal mass of the disk to prevent the thermal mass from affecting sensor measurement. The sensor includes a housing carried by the spacer that, in turn, carries the sensing element. Where the sensing element is a temperature sensing element, the housing is thermally conductive and the housing and spacer enclose the sensing element. Each sensor is disposed in the refining surface, preferably in its own separate bore in the disk and flush with or below axial refiner bar height. Signals from one or more sensors are processed by a processing device linked to a module containing calibration data that is applied to make sensor measurements more accurate.

Abstract: Drilling fluids are provided that comprise an organophilic clay treated with a quaternary ammonium surfactant having an amide linkage. The quaternary ammonium surfactant may comprise a compound generally represented by the following formula: where M? is an anion such as a chloride, methyl sulfate, bromide, acetate, or iodide ion; R1 is an alkyl group such as a saturated hydrocarbon with 10 or more carbons; R2, R3, and R4 are the same or different alkyl groups such as a methyl, ethyl, or benzyl group, and x is greater than or equal to 1. The organophilic clay treated in this manner is substantially biodegradable. In embodiments, the drilling fluids comprise the foregoing organophilic clay, an oil-based fluid and a weighting agent. In still embodiments, the drilling fluids comprise the foregoing organophilic clay, an invert emulsion, an emulsifier, and a weighting agent.

Abstract: Compositions including multiple oligodeoxynucleotides with a CpG motif are disclosed herein. The compositions can include either D or K type oligodeoxynucleotides. These compositions are of use in inducing an immune response in a large percentage of the individuals in a population.

Abstract: Methods and systems for mapping data from a network to memory. A node receives a data map from a network. The data map is reflective of characteristics of data associated with the data map. Based on the data map, the computer allocates a section of a memory of the computer. The computer also receives the data associated with the data map from the network and loads the received data into the allocated memory based on the data map. Thereafter, the computer may also get at least one search parameter, search the allocated memory for data that meets the at least one search parameter using the data map, and copy data that meets the at least one search parameter.

Abstract: An apparatus for protecting exposed pipeline joints on weight coated pipelines used in offshore applications includes a pliable cover sleeve which overlaps a pair of weight coat sections that surround the pipeline on each side of the pipe joint. The cover sleeve circumferentially envelops the pipe joint, forming an annular space enclosed between the pipe and the cover sleeve and bordered by the pair of weight coat sections. The cover sleeve includes a number of protruding ridges forming a number of chambers between the ridges in flow communication with the annular space. A joint-filling material of polyurethane foam formed by polyurethane chemicals fills the annular space and the chambers between the ridges of the cover sleeve. As the joint filling material hardens it interlocks with the ridges of the cover sleeve, securing the joint filling material between the cover sleeve and the pipe joint.

Abstract: Methods are disclosed herein for inducing homologous recombination in a host cell comprising a target nucleic acid, using a single-stranded nucleic acid molecule. The single-stranded nucleic acid molecule has a sufficient number of nucleotides homologous to the target nucleic acid to enable homologous recombination with the target nucleic acid. The host cell includes a de-repressible promoter operably linked to a nucleic acid encoding a single-stranded binding protein and is deficient for mismatch repair. Isolated host cells of use in this method are also disclosed.

Abstract: A electric rotating machine includes a rotor winding constituting a part of a rotor, a conductor provided in a center portion in a radial direction of a rotor body for supplying electricity to the rotor winding from the outside, a leader drawn from the conductor to an outside diameter side, and a connecting line constructed by stacking a plurality of conductor plates to electrically connect the rotor winding and the leader. The connecting line consists of a radial direction linear portion which is straight in the radial direction on the leader side, and a bending portion which branches into two routes toward opposite directions to each other in a rotor shaft direction from the radial direction linear portion and has a linear portion formed at a part of the bending portion. The linear portion of the bending portion is joined to a bottom surface of the rotor winding.

Abstract: A system including an environmental sensor that can travel with a product within a carrier's logistics network. The environmental sensor being configured to sense an environmental condition capable of affecting the product to generate product environment data. The system includes a scanner configured to read product environment data from the environmental sensor. The system also includes a hub control unit configured to communicate with the scanner and receive the product environment data from the scanner and determines whether the product environment data transcends a limit of exposure of the product to an environmental condition. The hub control unit is also configured to generate a transporting instruction to redirect transport of the product to an alternate destination different from its original destination if the hub control unit determines that the product environment data indicates the environmental condition of the product has transcended the limit of exposure.

The system may include a distributed tier with a presentation module accessible by a user which is configured to permit configuration of an interface in a session with the user and an interface module configured to process session state data in an extensible language format. The system may also include a mainframe system having an enterprise architecture integration (EAI) framework configured for receiving the extensible language formatted state data and invoking at least one service in association with evaluating the extensible language formatted state data and a business rules engine based on an extensible language format. The mainframe system may be configured to translate the evaluated state data into a reply message based on the extensible language format.

The wireless terminal or a service authorization server may generate requests for authorization. The wireless terminal may generate a request for authorization that is sent to the service authorization server, which generates a multi-modal response and transmits the multi-modal response to the user. The service authorization server may also generate a multi-modal request for authorization that is sent to the wireless terminal.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for processing of an original batch of documents in which any document of the original batch that fails to comply with the predefined specification is identified to be a non-compliant document. At least one non-compliant batch is then formed that contains the non-compliant documents. The non-compliant batch is distinct from at least one compliant batch that contains any documents that do comply with the predefined specification. At least one of the non-compliant and compliant batches advantageously includes a plurality of documents. The complaint batch(es) may then be forwarded for further processing without awaiting rework of the non-complaint documents included in the non-compliant batch(es).

Abstract: A circulation control valve includes an opening between the valve exterior and an interior passage, an internal closure device for permitting and preventing flow through the opening, a valve device initially preventing flow through the opening, and an internal chamber. If the caller selects an option to receive driving directions to the listing destination, the directory assistance provider forwards the listing address to a platform that correlates the address with location coordinates. The platform can poll the calling device to obtain GPS identifying data for the mobile device and derive mapping and routing information.

Abstract: An approach is disclosed for detecting fraud in financial records of a network subscriber. Financial records are received and impersonal data are extracted. Financial record data are processed to conform to a normalized format. Normalized records can be correlated into groups linked to respective sources such as, for example, an individual, a business entity, or a healthcare practitioner. Digits contained in this data are analyzed to determine a pattern that is indicative of fraud. An alert, to the fact that fraud has been detected with respect to an identified plurality of records if such determination has been made, is then generated.

Abstract: This invention relates to an oral composition for treatment or prevention of atherosclerosis comprising a low-dose aspirin and a low-dose of statin wherein the aspirin and statin are in a slow-release formulation. The invention also relates to a method of treatment or prevention of atherosclerosis using such a composition.

Abstract: A method of identifying features within a dataset such as an image comprises applying a multiscale transform such as a dual tree Complex Wavelet Transform to generate a plurality of scale-related transform levels each having a plurality of transform coefficients defining magnitude and phase; determining the phase difference between a first coefficient on one level, and a second coefficient on the same or a different level; and identifying the feature in dependence on the phase difference. Each quadrant of the phase difference, when plotted as an angle, is indicative of a different type of feature. The invention is equally applicable to the identification of two-dimensional features such as images, as well as to the identification of features within one-dimensional data streams such as audio.
