    Abstract: A nozzle assembly for a fuel injector includes a nozzle body and a needle tip positioned within the nozzle body. The needle check includes a terminal end surface positioned in spaced, facing relation to a sac surface of the nozzle body, to form a sac cavity. The terminal end surface and sac surface each have spherical shapes, and are centered about a longitudinal axis of the nozzle body. Structures of the terminal end surface and the sac surface are such that a clearance between them is nowhere less than along a line segment between centers of the terminal end surface and the sac surface, the sac cavity has a reduced volume, and wall thickness at the nozzle tip is sufficient for improved fracture resistance.

    Abstract: A method of real-time impedance matching includes conveying a tool through a borehole where the tool includes a transmit cavity antenna and receive cavity antenna for transmitting and receiving signals through a subsurface formation. The tool also includes a cable for routing signals within the tool and at least one variable inductor or variable capacitor in an impedance-matching circuit. The method further includes measuring a reflection of a signal transmitted through the formation and determining a target impedance based on the impedance of the cable and the reflection. The method further includes adjusting the at least one variable inductor or variable capacitor such that the impedance of the matching circuit substantially equals the target impedance and receiving a signal from the formation via the adjusted impedance of the matching circuit.

    Abstract: Switchable multi-antenna fluid sensing systems and methods, including a tubular-mounted switchable multi-antenna fluid sensing system that includes two antenna arrays that each senses fluid characteristics not sensed by other antenna arrays, each array including multiple antenna sub-arrays and each sub-array including a receive and transmit antenna with a radial transmission direction different from that of other sub-arrays. The system also includes two RF multiplexers, each coupled to the antennas within the arrays and to corresponding RF transceivers within a sensor tube. A CPU within the sensor tube couples to the RF transceivers, controls signal transmission by, and processes received signals from, the antennas. RF cables coupling the RF transceivers and RF multiplexers are grouped and routed through one end of the sensor tube.
