Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of catalysts used for producing para-xylene by toluene shape selective alkylation. The invention is primarily used for solving the problems in the old technology, e.g., high requirements on the environment and great treatment of waste water containing organic amines when synthesizing ZSM-5 molecular sieves by using an organic amine as the template agent; small and non-homogeneous particles of the molecular sieves when synthesizing ZSM-5 molecular sieves by using an alcohol or ether as the template agent, such that the catalyst prepared thereby has low catalytic selectivity and low toluene conversion rate, etc. Said problems are better solved in the present invention by synthesizing ZSM-5 molecular sieves using the combination of organic amines and alcohols or ethers as the template agents (having a weight ratio of organic amines/alcohols=0.05-150, and organic amines/ethers=0.05-150), and modifying with organosilicon so as to obtain the catalysts.

  • Patent number: 7109389
Abstract: A process for the disproportionation and transalkylation of toluene and the heavy aromatics comprises: subjecting a first stream of toluene, and a stream enriched in aromatics of nine carbon atoms to toluene disproportionation and transalkylation reactions in the presence of hydrogen in a first reaction zone to produce a first product mixture comprising benzene, aromatics of eight carbon atoms and heavy aromatics of ten and more carbon atoms; subjecting a second stream of toluene, and a stream enriched in heavy aromatics of ten and more carbon atoms to transalkylation reaction in the presence of hydrogen in a second reaction zone to produce a second product mixture comprising benzene, aromatics of eight carbon atoms and aromatics of nine carbon atoms; and isolating and recovering benzene and aromatics of eight carbon atoms from the first and second product mixtures.

  • Patent number: 6867339
Abstract: A complete new process for producing p-xylene is provided to solve the problems in the prior arts of the great amount of benzene as a by-product and the requirement of low content of C10+ heavy aromatics in the feedstock. The process comprises first subjecting benzene and C9+ aromatics to alkyl transfer reaction to produce toluene and C8 aromatics, then conducting toluene selective disproportionation, and molecular sieve adsorptive separation and isomerization of C8 aromatics, to obtain p-xylene.

  • Patent number: 6716405
Abstract: A process for removing unreacted ammonia from an effluent of a catalyst bed used in a hydrocarbon ammoxidation reaction is provided. The process includes a step of providing a fluidized bed reactor. The reactor includes the catalyst bed for reacting ammonia and hydrocarbons therein. The reactor also includes a dilute phase of the catalyst bed disposed above the catalyst bed. The reactor further includes a set of internals disposed at least partially within the dilute phase of the catalyst bed. The reactor additionally includes an inlet of a first-stage cyclone separator disposed above the set of internals. The process also includes a step of removing the unreacted ammonia from the effluent of the catalyst bed by passing the effluent through the set of internals. The ammonia and hydrocarbons present in the effluent contact the dilute phase of the catalyst bed and react therein.
